Dear Page Families,


1. Immigration Supports for MCPS families - Message from MCPS - Our schools are and will always remain safe places where every child—regardless of immigration status—is welcomed, valued, affirmed, validated, respected, and loved. Below are some important resources for our families here at Page ES:



2. Reminder Hearing and Vision Testing - Monday, January 27th & Tuesday, January 28th. In accordance with Maryland State Law students in Montgomery County Public Schools are screened for possible vision and hearing problems. Trained hearing and vision screeners will be screening students new to MCPS, students in Kindergarten, 1st grade, new students and students referred by teachers because of possible signs of hearing or vision problems.


If your child wears glasses or contacts they should wear them every day and bring them to the screening.


    3. NEW DATE Reminder - 5th Grade Families Mark Your Calendar - Briggs Chaney Middle School Meeting - Thursday, January 30th (See Flyer Below)


    4. MCPS Connect-Ed will be replaced by ParentSquare at the end of the January. What is ParentSquare?

    • Communication platform similar to MCPS Connect ED

    • Sender selects the message format (email, text, phone call)

    • Nightly syncs with data from Synergy

    • Parents automatically opted in and logins are NOT required

    • Automatic message translation

    • 6:00 PM daily digest or right away message delivery

    • ParentSquare and Remind will merge - TBD

    • Ability to send Urgent messages to all formats (email, text, phone call)


    5. Family Fitness Night - Tuesday, January 28th @ 6:30 PM. Join Mr. Unger, physical education teacher and the Page PTA, for Family Fitness Night, a fun-filled evening of physical activities for the whole family! Participate in exciting stations including basketball, jump rope, hand/eye skills challenges, scooter board exercises and more. Challenge your strength, endurance, and flexibility with engaging exercises designed for all ages and skill levels. We will also have some jump rope fun with the Greenbelt Sity Stars - Double Dutch World Jr. Champion Jump Rope Team. Come together, stay active, and make lasting memories with your loved ones!

    Due to Weather Closures, MCPS School Year Extended by One Day

    This January has been a challenging month for our community, with freezing temperatures, snow and icy conditions affecting our daily routines. Students, staff and families have navigated these tough weeks with resilience, being cautious while traveling and layering up against the cold. We can now look forward to a welcome warm-up in the coming days; however, we must make a necessary adjustment to the school calendar due to the weather-related closures earlier this month.

    Schools and offices were closed on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, and Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. The 2024–2025 MCPS school calendar includes 182 instructional days, two more than the state of Maryland's minimum requirement of 180. As a result, the closures on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 will not affect the school calendar.


    However, the closure on Jan. 8 requires using one designated make-up day in the calendar. The school year will be extended by one day, with the last day of school for students now scheduled as an early release day on Monday, June 16, 2025. Additionally, Friday, June 13, 2025, which was scheduled as an early release day, will now be a full instructional day for students.

    Should there be more closures, further calendar adjustments will need to be considered, MCPS may request a waiver from the state-mandated 180 instructional days from the Maryland State Department of Education. To qualify for a waiver, however, MCPS must demonstrate efforts to make up lost instructional time, including adjusting the existing school calendar.

    During severe weather, closure decisions are made to maintain the safety of students and staff. Should our community receive any further weather-related closures, resulting in necessary calendar changes, those changes will be determined and communicated swiftly.

    WT Page PTA - Silent Auction Save the Dates

    • Save the Dates - February 16th -21st
    • All proceeds from the auction directly benefit our students, providing everything from classroom supplies, to technology upgrades, to extracurricular activities and special events.

    Clothes for Cash is a fundraiser that supports our Page Students. Donate your clothes to the school when you clean out your closets and place them in a white plastic bag and place them in the white bin located at the carpool loop exit. Page ES receives 10 cent per pound.
