A Few Winter Reminders
Well, I guess we can say winter is finally here! Below are a few winter reminders:
- Students are not marked tardy when the drop off line is long due to slick or snow covered roads. We do write their names down as they come in so we can clear their attendance if they are marked absent.
- Students will continue to go outside for recess unless the temperature or windchill is below -15 degrees. So please makes sure your child comes to school with a warm jacket, hat, mittens, snowpants and boots.
- Crossing guards will continue to be at their corners unless the temperature or windchill is below -15 degrees. On mornings when we are close to the criteria, they may only be at their corners from 7:25-7:35am.
Toys still excepted through early next week!
Lester Park School is again a Salvation Army Toyland Express drop off site! New, unwrapped toys may be drop off through early December. The box is located in our main hallway near the front entrance.
Thank you for supporting this wonderul cause and to everyone who has already donated!
New Stuffies In Need!
Looking for Monitor Subs
Looking to earn a little extra cash? We are looking for another lunch/recess monitor substitue. You would work 1-3 shifts a week. Can't work a day? No problem! We can work around your schedule!
Hours are 10:20am-1:20pm. Pay is $15/hour.
Have questions or are interested in applying? Please email lesterpark@isd709.org. Thank you!
In need of 2 more Morning Crossing Guards - can be Part Time!
We are in need of a few more Crossing Guards in the morning. Until we are able to get new recruits and train them, there will be no crossing guards at the Oneida corners of 52nd & 54th Avenues.
- Must be in 4th or 5th Grade
- Must be to school before 7:15, 7:05 if they would like breakfast.
- Model behavior, on and off duty, is expected of ALL patrol members.
- Maintenance and return of equipment is expected (i.e. flags and vests)
- Students will receive training from an adult, and accompany experienced crossing guards for the first 2 weeks.
If your child would like to be a crossing guard, or you would like more information, please email lesterpark@isd709.org
On the Friday after the school year has ended, crossing guards are treated to a few hours at Adventure Zone for FREE by the Duluth Police Department. They will also receive a pizza lunch and can win prizes such as a new bike!
Thank you! Tracy Thompson

Link to Current/Past Newsletters & their Table of Contents
We are trying something new. We have lots of information in our school newsletters and provide past links, but sometimes it can be hard to remember which newsletter a topic was discussed. We now have this: Current/Past Newsletters & their Table of Contents
We will keep a link of this on our website and in each school newsletter.
