Smiles Across Montana - Dental Clinic Opportunity
Smiles Across Montana is a non-profit mobile dental clinic that will be coming to GHS to provide dental care to interested students on October 1, 2nd and 3rd. They provide dental care for any students who are not receiving regular dental care for any reason. Registered dental hygienists who are under direct general supervision of a dentist, will come to our school with all of the equipment they need to provide preventive cleanings, fluoride varnish treatments, digital x-rays if needed, preventative cavity treatment, and preventive dental sealants. They also have an extensive referral system to help students' families find a dentist in the community, if needed. They take dental insurance, and have a scholarship fund to help pay for services when families can’t.
The consent form is linked here, and paper copies can be found at the Attendance and Main offices and the Nurse Office. Completed consent forms should be turned into the Main Office or to the School Nurse as soon as possible. Please click here to view the Smiles Across Montana website to learn more about this great organization. We hope to see you there!
Attendance Policy Update
Our attendance policy has changed to align with our new alternating block schedule. Each class is now eighty minutes and will meet every other day. Each class will meet approximately half the number of times per semester as in previous years. Our updated attendance policy will now allow for a student to be absent up to six times in any given class. Please remember that high school absences are counted by class, by period.
The six-day absence limit is relegated to excused and unexcused absences. I encourage you to read our entire attendance policy in the high school student/parent handbook at this link. We recognize that sometimes students may need to be absent for any number of compelling reasons. The expectations in our attendance policy are outlined both to confirm our expectation that students are in school every day and also to allow grace for students and families when absences happen. The absence limit is intended to provide boundaries and to initiate support for students who are struggling with attendance.
Please know that we do not expect or want students to attend school when they are sick. If students are not well, they should stay home.
We will work with families who have concerns. We can collaborate on solutions to best meet the need of students and families. If students have incurred a number of absences in any given class during a semester and are concerned about next steps, the student and/or family should contact Nate Laslovich, our dean of students, at nate.laslovich@bsd7.org. You may also contact a student's assigned assistant principal, Mr. Randy VanDyk (last names A-K) or Mrs. Laslovich (last names L-Z).
Raptor Golf continues success with girls 1st place and boys 3rd last week!

Student Parking
All juniors and seniors are eligible to request a parking pass and park on campus. Students with a parking pass may park in either of the student lots on the southeast and southwest sides of campus. Students may also use the north and eastern row of the northeast staff lot. Please see the green zones map below. The parking pass must be visible at all times and failure to obey parking and safety regulations may result in your pass being revoked. We will begin enforcing parking passes this week. Students without a parking pass can park along Annie Street, on the west side of Cottonwood or on adjacent streets.
Yearbook
These are the days your teen will want to remember forever. Help make the year unforgettable by purchasing a 2024 copy of the Summit. For only $75.00, your student will have a book that will be enjoyed now and 20, 30, or even 50 years from now, but this price only lasts until December 8th.
Buy online with a credit card, debit card, or PayPal at yearbookforever.com or use the QR code above. Order now, so your student won’t miss out when the yearbook is distributed in May. Don’t let your child’s memories fade; make sure they get a yearbook!
