Week of 11/25/2024
A Message From Mr. Johnson:
Hello Sandhill Families,
We had a fun and eventful week at Sandhill! Here are a few highlights and updates:
This past week, we surprised our students with a Super Secret Staff Spirit Week, where our staff had fun dress-up days. Your student may have mentioned silly hats, fanny packs, or even an entire building of teachers dressed like me! I have to say, I was quite impressed by everyone’s style on Tuesday when they dressed like me—it was spot-on!
A big thank you to Heidi DeBruin for serving as a long-term substitute in Special Education. Starting this week, Chris Erickson will be taking over through Winter Break. We’re grateful to both Heidi and Chris for their dedication to our students.
It snowed! Just last week, we were enjoying 60-degree weather, and now we’re bundling up for the snow. Please make sure your child comes to school with jackets, hats, gloves, boots, and snow pants so they can stay warm and enjoy recess. If you need assistance with any of these items, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our school social worker, Ms. McDermot.
Looking ahead, we have a short week next week, followed by a well-deserved break. There will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
As always, thank you for your support, and please reach out if you have any questions. Have a wonderful week!
Warm regards,
Bob / Mr. Johnson
School Updates
Third Grade Visit
Rena Sletten (Daughter of Educational Assistant and SHS 2014 Graduate) came in to 3rd grade today to talk about telescopes and space. This is a great connection to our current 3rd Grade Wit and Wisdom Module.
Rena Sletten is an enthusiastic scientist and science communicator, both at heart and in practice. Currently, she is using her background in astrophysics and public relations to do climate science research and communication with an interdisciplinary approach through UW-Madison’s Nelson Institute graduate program.

WFK Updates
WFK Updates
Hello Sandhill Families & Friends!
We are proud to be partnering with the WFK groups from Kegonsa and Fox Prairie again this year to help make the holidays special for Stoughton families in need. Starting Saturday, November 23, Giving Trees will be found at Next Generation, Wildwood, Stoughton Floral, Level Up Fitness, and Kicks Unlimited/Stoughton's Best Afterschool & Summer Camp.
Our Giving Tree will also be up during the Shop Small Saturday event on 11/30 and Victorian Holiday Market on 12/7, from 9am-5pm both days at Public Chorus House! For those two days, we are looking for volunteers to be present and answer any questions shoppers may have!
Volunteer for the Giving Tree on 11/30 or 12/7!
Pick a tag from one of these trees and drop off the unwrapped gifts at either Next Generation during their regular business hours or at Sandhill Elementary School during school hours. Unwrapped gifts need to be dropped off by Thursday, December 12! The tags have all the information you need regarding what you are shopping for.
Finally, we will be doing a gift sorting on Friday, December 13 at Sandhill! We need donations of wrapping paper and tape and are looking for a few volunteers to help sort gifts! This is a fun and easy way to help get involved and support families in our community!
Donate gift wrap or help with gift sorting!
Thank you in advance for supporting our Annual Giving Tree!
