Mill Creek Mission Statement: Is to ensure individual success and personal development for every student, by cultivating opportunities that equip, empower, and educate all to excel.
From the Principals:
Wow, I know we are all tired of AMI days and ready to get back to our normal school routine! Thank you so much for your efforts as Mother Nature worked against us. Safety first in these severe weather situations. As you probably have heard, I am retiring at the end of this school year. After 36 years I am wrapping it up. I will continue to give it all I have this year and we will finish strong. I am happy to share that Mrs. Tiedeman was recently chosen to be the Principal at Mill Creek starting next year. She will be awesome! Speaking of finishing strong, our staff will be pushing your child academically these next months to be their best, specifically in reading. Reading is a foundational skill for life, and frankly, it's a skill we are not excelling at. We all need to make it important to kiddos that they can read and become better readers. That's what we will be dedicated to in the upcoming months.
From the Office:
If you need to make a change of transportation, please contact the office in writing by 3pm.
Please do not let car riders out of your car until you see the adults come out to greet them in the morning (8:18). Please do not drop your child off in the area around the school and have them walk up to school to avoid the car rider line.
From the Counselors:
With the start of the new year, the School Counselors’ classroom lessons will be focused on exploring strategies for setting achievable personal goals and how to reach them successfully.
Need help keeping calm and focused while stuck inside due to weather? Check out some of these helpful resources from Big Life Journal.

From the Library:
Reading Challenge Info
The winter break reading challenge logs are due 1/10. Here is the link if your child needs to print a new one.
Spring is nearly here, which means students participating in the annual Missouri state-wide reading challenge need to have completed at least 4 from the same list (Mark Twain or Truman) by the first week of March.
Reading four books from the same list will get students a party. The list was shared earlier in the year, but here it is again in case kids are trying to squeeze in the last few books they need to complete the challenge.
Reading six will get them a party, a prize bag, and entered to win an autographed book. 5th graders are only allowed to vote on Mark Twain books. 6th graders can choose which list they want to do. The hold lists are quite long on all the books, but the public library has many more copies than I do if you want to get some of them from there.
Library Lesson Focus
6th-grade students will practice typing skills and learn to manipulate images within Google Docs. 5th-grade students will take a personality quiz that will pair them with specific book recommendations in the library tied to their interests.
Upcoming Events:
1/6- No School, Teacher Work Day
1/20- No School Martin Luther King Day
2/10- Spring Pictures
2/17- No School- PD Day
Here's to a warmer and less snowier January,
Mr. Erholtz and Mrs. Tiedeman
