This week's STUDENT MISSION:
9-30-24 Follow the bathroom rules. Use only one or two squirts of soap and one or two paper towels. Make sure your paper towel goes in the trash can and keep the floor clean. Let’s work together to show HAWK Pride in the bathrooms and keep them clean.

Head Lice Prevention Tips
We know that lice is a dreaded word for any of us with kids. Please take a minute to check out this article about the Top 6 Myths about Head Lice. If we can support you in anyway let us know.
- Avoid head-to-head contact during activities.
- Don't share items like hats, combs, or towels.
- Wash clothing, towels, and bedding used by someone with head lice in hot water and dry on high heat.
- Disinfect combs and brushes in hot water for 5–10 minutes.
- Vacuum floors and furniture where an infested person has been.
Sanford Library
The Sanford Library is still in search of preschool and Kindergarten level books similar to those shown in the picture. If you have any books that your children no longer need, we would greatly appreciate your donations. Our collection for new readers is limited, and we want to provide them with a wider selection throughout the year.
Books can be dropped off in the office.
Thank you to everyone who has been able to donate books so far!

An Unexpected Guest at Ramsey
As students came to Ramsey on Friday morning, they were greeted by an unexpected guest. We used a bug app and identified this bug as an tenodera sinensis or a Chinese mantis. There are only two species of praying mantis in Minnesota, Chinese mantis and European mantis. Neither is native to North America. The most common by far is Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis sinensis).
We learned Females lay ootheca in the fall and die soon afterwards. Any mantids still active in the late fall are killed by the first hard frost. Adult mantids that are brought indoors before the frost may survive a few months into the winter but will die of old age before the spring.
There was much interest around this guest! If your child is interested in learning more about a Chinese mantis, check out this video of fun facts for kids.
