Mothers' Home Donation Delivery
Despite brutal temperatures last week, a group of 5th graders helped load up a district school bus with all the donations made by our school community for the Mothers' Home in Darby. The Mothers' Home is a residential shelter that provides a safe haven for young vulnerable women. The donations filled the bus! Thank you to everyone who supported this project. The difference we were able to make to this organization was incredible.

The center is in need of the following:
- Wet & dry dog and cat food
- Dog & cat toys

NAACP Art Poster Contest Winners
The Media Area Branch of the NAACP once again sponsored a Poster Contest to commemorate Black History Month. The objective of the competition was to bring out the creative expression of students and to enhance their knowledge and awareness of the contributions and impact that African Americans have made to our country. The Poster Making Competition theme this year was Black Inventors Who Made Daily Life Better.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the NAACP Art Poster Contest and especially to our winners - Eva L., Margo C., and Josie C.
Thank you to Mrs. Bucolo for organizing our school competition!
Ned Hector Visits Rose Tree
In recognition of Black History Month, the 5th grade students were visited by Edward “Ned” Hector, enacted by Noah Lewis, who provided a living history lesson by sharing what life was like for a Revolutionary War soldier. This interactive lesson brought living conditions at the time of the Revolutionary War to life for the students, who were left with a much deeper understanding of what soldiers had to face at this time in history.

Message from the School Nurse
We are seeing an increase in both respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses throughout the school district.
It is crucial to maintain a healthy environment in our schools to protect students and staff. If your child is ill, please consult the following RTMSD guidelines to determine if they should attend school:
It is also important to take into consideration your child’s ability to be productive in school when they complain of a headache, stomach pain, sore throat, or cold symptoms. Keeping your sick child at home will help them recover sooner and prevent the spread of germs. If you are uncertain, you can always reach out to your child’s pediatrician or the nurse in their building.
Teach your child to cough into their elbow or shoulder so as to not spread germs. Students should avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth and wash their hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
District custodial staff work diligently to clean our classrooms and buildings every evening.
Principals Advisory Board (PAB)
Thank you to all families who submitted items to the January PAB meeting agenda. The PAB committee met on two occasions to discuss these items. A summary of the discussions can be found using the following link: January PAB minutes
Here's how the school fundraiser works:
- Orders can be placed online or submitted on the paper order form, which your child can give to their teacher.
- Two delivery options: Shipping (with a fee) or Delivered to the School (no fee)
- If shipping your order, the sale runs Monday, January 27th - Sunday, April 6th
- If having your purchase delivered to the school, the sale runs Monday, January 27th - Monday, March 10th. The shorter sale date provides the company enough time to ship our large order to the school for free.
- Delivery is anticipated the week of April 7th
