Galileo Testing Schedule
All grade levels continue testing next week, April 15-17th. They will be taking three math assessments. We will be running a testing bell schedule during this time to accommodate for the length of the assessment. We ask that you please send your student to school on time during these dates, as well please do not schedule appointments for early release. Once students are in a testing session, we may not remove them for any reason. We have been preparing for this all year long and are so excited for students to show what they know.
School Accountability Committee Update
Thank you for joining us for our meeting this evening. It was exciting to be able to take our families down to the Ascend Center to see the support that is available to our community through our Joint Initiative partnership.
Here are the notes from our meeting:
- Celebrations
- Students are working so hard on all the assessments they have taken thus far. Last week, all grade levels took STAR. While the data is not available, officially, preliminary numbers are showing growth. This week all grade levels have completed their 110-minute ELA CMAS test. Students took their time, and we are excited to see how they did when we return next year. Bottomline, the students feel proud, and we do, too!
- The first week of testing is always the most stressful and often times the anticipated schedule changes. Teachers were super flexible and supported each other with breaks, lunches, class coverage, etc.
- Families adopted advisory classes to bring treats during testing. The students were so excited to receive the extra special support. Thank you to our families for donating to our classrooms.
- Food Fundraisers are a big hit with our community. Thank you for your support. We have raised over $500 to date for our students. This money is used to support our Big Rock of Positive School Culture where we purchase PBIS rewards, attendance rewards and treats for teachers. Keep an eye out for more before the year ends. See flyers below.
- Upcoming Events
- 2nd Annual Spring Carnival planning is underway. Save the Date for Wednesday, May 14th from 4:30p-6:30p. Flyer below and more information forthcoming.
- 8th grade continuation is May 23rd. We are still working to find a venue. If we cannot, what are some ways we can better utilize our space at Galileo. We discussed moving it outside on the field depending on weather. Stay tuned.
- Open
- We are excited to announce that Ms. Kaye Jones will become a voting member of REACH. REACH is the committee of various community members that support our Ascend Center. Congratulations, Ms. Jones! You are going to do amazing things, and we can't wait to see the ideas/supports for our community and Ascend Center!
Next Meeting: May 15th (Final SAC Meeting of the Year)
