BCHS Jag PRIDE Newsletter
April/ May 2024
Finish BC Strong!
BCHS Families,
It seems surreal that in just a few days we will be celebrating the end of the 23-24 school year and our incredible Class of 2024 at the commencement ceremony. Our 20th year has been amazing with so may accolades, celebrations, and growth that is truly a year to "Be All You Can Be, BC!" We started this year welcoming our Jaguars back with decorations made by staff members encouraging all the things that they could become by showing incredible Jaguar PRIDE-- being Prepared, having Respect, having Integrity, being Disciplined, and ensuring Everyone is United! Our Jaguars absolutely took this and ran with it becoming an A-rated, A+ School of Excellence, State Champions, Regional Champions, Sectional Champions, a National Champion, a National Merit Scholar, Award-Decorated Community Contributors, Innovators, and Creators. Each of our Jaguars has learned, grown, and made their mark this year at BCHS. I couldn't be more proud!
As we wind down the 23-24 school year, its important to finish strong, focused, and to continue showing incredible Jaguar PRIDE! Thank you for being a part of the BCHS family! We are grateful for you!
Have an incredible day, and make a positive difference, Jags!
Mrs. Sutton
Principal
Celebrating the Class of 2024: Seniors Last Day

Today they celebrated their last day on campus and finished strong! Our Parent Association met them as they left with donuts and smiles. It was a beautiful exit for incredible young adults!
We can't wait to see our seniors walk across the State Farm Stadium Stage on May 17th at 2:30!

BCHS PRIDE "Be Classy" Students of the Month
At BCHS we use "Be Classy" cards to recognize students for demonstrating positive BC PRIDE behaviors on campus: being prepared, being respectful, having integrity, being disciplined, and ensuring everyone is united!
When a staff member sees a student following the monthly goal OR a student who is going above and beyond, the staff member can give the student a "Be Classy" card to recognize their positive behavior. Students then fill it out and put it in the box in the student lobby by Ms. Susie's desk.
Each month, we draw 10 winners.May GOAL: BCHS Students will get to class on time and reduce the amount of tardies for the month of May.
May Winners:

2024 Mr. BC Night Breaks Charity Record!
Congratulations to our Mr. BC contestants and student government on putting together an amazing show Friday night! And on top of that, our Mr. BC contestants raised over $15,000 for Mother’s Grace charity! This is the most money raised through Mr. BC I have ever seen! And our newly crowned winners were Dax Monsetime as Mr. Generosity, Caleb Hespe as Mr. Congeniality, Gavin Kuhl as Mr. Talented, PK Hoppe as Mr. Pop Culture & Audience Choice, Riley Villanueva as Mr. Interview, and our 2024 Mr. BC was Caleb Hespe! And a huge thank you goes to our student government for coordinating Mr. BC and then coming back early Saturday morning to decorate the hallways for our spirit week! This week we celebrate our seniors and show our Jaguar spirit before our assembly on Friday and our Prom on Saturday Night! Thank you, Stugo, and your sponsor Mrs. Ferrer for making it all possible!
Celebrating the Class of 2024 at our Spring Assembly
BC Stugo led the campus in an incredible Spring Assembly celebrating our Class of 2024! Students played games, heard about spring sports, got to see our junior and seniors nominated for royalty, and watched performances by Mr. BC, dance, and spiritline. And our senior class won the spirit stick for the last time! It was a day of fun for all!
BCHS's First Ever A+ Celebration & Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge!
On April 5th, BCHS had a whole school assembly where the Arizona Education Foundation presented us with our A+ School of Excellence banner for our award! The whole school assembly took place on a very windy day on the football field, but was filled with positive speeches and recognition highlighting the accomplishments of our students, staff, and community. Our band played, drumline and spiritline entertained the crowd, and Student Government led the way through speaking and teaching our student body how to play in our first-ever Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge. As students left the stadium field, the got an ice cream treat and went to their classrooms to get their beads. Throughout the day, students could challenge each other and staff to games of rock, paper, scissors. Students from each grade level that ended up with the most beads through winning the games were awarded prizes such as a free prom ticket, a free parking pass, a free athletic pass for 24-25, or gift cards. It was such a happy day with laughter, culture-building, and celebration! It was a GREAT day to be a Jaguar!

Show that Jaguar P.R.I.D.E!
BC Jaguar PRIDE means that our Jaguars are Prepared, Respectful, have Integrity, are Disciplined, and show that Everyone is united! To ensure a safe, focused, and positive learning environment, we PRIDE expectations with students on Thursday in second period.
- This includes our expectation that students keep their cellphones on silent mode in their backpack so students can properly engage in learning.
- Students should be prepared with a fully charged iPad each day and any other items required for class to help with their success.
- It is also critical that students are in class and on time to be present for learning which is critical for their success.
- We also expect our students to be respectful of classrooms, school and personal property each and every day.
Please review our BCHS PRIDE expectations in our Student/Parent Handbook . Taking time to show Jaguar PRIDE is important as we work toward our mission of providing “a safe learning environment with rigorous academic opportunities for all students to graduate as productive, responsible, and contributing citizens!”
