SUN BUCKS AND SUMMER MEALS
The USDA’s free and reduced meals program serves 36% of BCSC families. Those families are also eligible for a new USDA program called SUN Bucks. This program is administered through the Indiana Department of Education. BCSC notified all families who are currently eligible for free and reduced meals last week to tell them about the summer benefit.
If your family does not currently receive free or reduced meal benefits and you think you may qualify:
- CLICK HERE first to complete a free and reduced meal application.
- Then visit https://indianasunbucks.com to complete the application and ensure that you are signed up for the federal summer SUN Bucks program. (Those who qualified for free and reduced meals before May 1 do not need to complete this additional application)
- Applications will be accepted until Friday, August 16, 2024 in order to get benefits for this summer.
- If you need assistance filling out an application, or if you have questions, submit a ticket to the online help form: https://idoe.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/11
In addition to SUN Bucks, children under 18 years of age in a household can also receive free meals during the summer at a USDA/IDOE summer meal site. You can call them at 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (or text 914-342-7744 with the keyword “summer meals”) to find the location closest to you.
COMMUNITY IMMUNIZATION CLINIC - JUNE 4

Students entering grades K, 6, & 12 will have vaccine requirements at the beginning of the next school year and will be excluded from school if the proper documentation is not received by September 16, 2024. To support families looking for vaccines, the Indiana Immunization Coalition is holding a Community Immunization Clinic at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds, Tuesday, June 4th from 3pm - 6pm. If you would like to participate in the immunization clinic, please complete the online registration here:
- patients.vaxcare.com/registration
- Enrollment Code: IN65942

Walk-ins the day of the clinic are also welcome. Please bring the immunization records for the individual who is getting vaccinated. Please bring your insurance cards. They accept and bill all insurance (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid). There is no cost to those without insurance, except for the Shingles vaccine. There is often a required co-pay for the Shingles vaccine with Medicare.

BCSC FOOD AND CLOTHING PANTRY
The BCSC Food and Clothing Pantry operates through a partnership with Gleaners Food Bank. Thanks to the hard work of community and staff volunteers and Applied Skills students in the Collaborators for Success program at BHS, the pantry continues to serve many families in Brownsburg. BCSC families have also contributed donations to help make the pantry a great resource for our community.
The pantry will serve families again Thursday (5/2) from 3pm-5:30pm in a drive thru setting and always on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of the month. Visitors can pull up to door #7 at the ALPHA/Harris Academy building, 725 C South Green Street.
If you have questions about the pantry, please contact Tracy Damone at tdamone@brownsburg.k12.in.us.
