Remembering 9/11
As we approach the solemn anniversary of September 11th, it is important for us to remember and honor the lives that were lost on that tragic day.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a day that forever changed our nation and the world.
We encourage you to take some time to reflect on the courage and resilience shown by so many on that day, as well as the countless acts of kindness and compassion that followed. This is an opportunity for us to emphasize the values of empathy, understanding, and tolerance that make our community strong.
Consider engaging your children in age-appropriate discussions about 9/11, sharing stories of hope and heroism, and encouraging them to ask questions. Together, we can foster a sense of unity and empathy among our students, helping them to become compassionate and informed citizens. Please feel free to click on the link below "REMEMBER 9/11" for some resources and other information.
With warm regards,
Dr. Salazar
Principal's Message
BVM Community,
Good evening/morning! I hope you were able to escape the heat this past weekend and stayed safe! With only 10 school days left, we want to remind our parent community to encourage our students to maintain their academic focus. It is important that we support our students in staying committed to their studies and finishing strong before their Fall Break.
We understand that some students may be facing healthy struggles in their learning journey at this point in the semester. In such cases, open lines of communication are vital. I urge both students and parents to reach out to their teachers with any concerns or questions. Our dedicated staff is here to provide the necessary support and guidance to ensure our student's success. We want our students to continue trying and stay focused and away from distractions that may lead our students down the wrong path.
Additionally, this week is an exciting time for our school as our Sports Spirit Week is in full swing! Please make sure to check out the Week-at-a-Glance (below) to know how your child can participate each day. Let's show our school spirit! The week will culminate with our highly anticipated Fall Sports Assembly on Friday! I encourage all students to participate and cheer on our talented student-athletes.
Lastly, I want to address an important matter that has come to our attention. The senior manager of our local shopping center reached out to us this past week with concerns regarding some of our students who were reported to be loitering and displaying inappropriate behaviors. I kindly request our parent community to continue dropping off and picking up our students at our campus rather than at the surrounding, local businesses. By doing so, we can ensure the safety and supervision of our students before and after school (during drop-off and pick-up times).
Let's continue to make this school year an awesome one! Together, let's remain persistent in our learning and support one another. Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to the success of our students.
Lastly, please remember to review the 4 Essential Rules at Bonita Vista Middle School that allow us to not only promote our safety on campus, but it allows us to ensure that our students are fully present and ready to learn:
1. No Cell Phones on Campus: We ask that all students place their cell phones in their backpacks once they are at school and on our campus. We not only enforce this rule during class time but especially during nutrition breaks and lunchtime. We want our students to interact with each other as much as possible as opposed to being on their screens/phones.
2. No IPAD Misuse: Every student is issued an IPAD for educational purposes only. We ask students to use their devices strictly as implements of learning.
3. No Earbuds: Similar to our cell phone rule, we ask that once students are at school and on our campus, they place their earbuds in their backpacks. We have noticed that students are less distracted in class and engage more with each other when they are not using earbuds.
4. No Hoodie (worn on head): Students can wear hooded sweatshirts but in order to be able to identify our students at all times, we ask students not to wear their hoods over their heads. This rule is in place for student safety. Should a non-student sneak onto our campus, we would want to identify them immediately. Also, we need to ensure during class and outside of class that students do not have their earbuds. We prioritize making sure that students are paying attention in class and our fully engaged with each other at all times.
If you ever need to report a disciplinary or safety concern, please make sure to report all concerns to our administrative team.
