St. Luke Weekly SMORE
September 5, 2022
Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
Last week was full of excitement from both students and staff at St. Luke. The staggered entry days went exceptionally well. Having half our students over 2 days allowed teachers not only to discuss new protocols but to check in and reassure students.
As a school community we start this school year with a focus on student and staff mental health. Staff will be developing activities in the classroom that promote classroom community and focus on helping all students to integrate their learning. In addition, we will continue to listen to our students and we will help to support our students in the ways in which this support is required. Trusting relationships are key to a successful year, and our staff will be working hard to establish this foundation. If there is anything you feel that your child’s teacher or the office should know, do not hesitate to reach out.
We would like to welcome back all of our returning staff and welcome the newest members to our team. We are delighted to welcome Miss Sam Boehm, our new Grade 1 teacher and Mr. David Campbell, our new Family Wellness Worker. We are also excited to welcome back Ms.Laura Cormier from Strathcona County who will be working together with our staff to support the academic achievement by focusing on the whole student and their wellness. Promoting positive mental health, coping strategies and healthy relationships will be top priority as we work hard at providing a safe and caring school environment. Together with our amazing school team and with the support from our parents community St. Luke will continue to be a fantastic place for all our students to become the best they can be as we are 'Better Together!'
We look forward to an exciting year!
Blessings,
Cathy Hinger
Principal

Student Drop off and Pick ups
We are working with transportation on fine tuning our student drop off and pick up for this year. To ensure student safety please follow these guidelines:
Busing students will be dropped off and picked up first and will enter the school first.
After they pull away all other students can be dropped off.
If you need to drop or pick up sooner please use the drop at the back of the busses or at the front using the gravel parking lot.
Please park first and do not stop and pick up your student when driving through the parking lot.
Thank you for following this process for the safety of our students. We will keep you up to date on any changes made with the busing procedures.
Power School
Thank you for taking time to do this.

School fees will be added On October 1st. Teachers are still confirming this years fieldtrips.
Nutrition Program
We are very excited to announce that St. Luke has been chosen once again as a recipient of the Provincial Government Nutrition Program Grant. Students enjoy nutritious snacks daily that are delivered to their classroom to enjoy for their morning snack. We will be welcoming a Nutrition Program Coordinator this year to bring more variety to our program. We will introduce you to them at a later date.
Our Administrative Procedure reinforces the principles of healthy eating outlined in the Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide and the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth. If you have additional questions please contact our office staff.
