Principal's Message
Dear God
Thank you for bringing us together this week.
In a spirit of generosity,
may we continue to honour one another
by keeping an open mind to our differences.
May we voice our truth with confidence,
and listen to others with an open heart.
May we discern your will as we
unite as a wonderful school community.
We ask for your wisdom and grace,
to use our talents for the betterment of others.
Amen
Edu-Dance Concert and Open Afternoon
On Monday, our PP to Year 6 classes will come together to present the 2024 Edu-Dance Concert. After practicing diligently all term, we are thrilled to showcase our fantastic dancing skills. The concert will take place in the school hall at 2.10pm.
Following the concert, the students will return to their classrooms for their final preparations for our Open Afternoon. We kindly ask parents to wait until the 3pm bell before entering the classrooms. At that time, you are welcome to explore and admire the incredible work our students have accomplished this term.
Additionally, we have an Amazing Race competition that involves visiting various classrooms. We request that parents spend the first 15 minutes in their child’s classroom before exploring other areas. This will allow you to fully appreciate your child’s work before families start moving around.
Whilst the Kindy classroom can be accessed to complete the Amazing Race, our Kindy families are invited to attend their open classroom on Wednesday afternoon, immediately after the bell.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Eucharist Input Workshop
I look forward to meeting with our First communion Candidates and their parents at our Eucharist Workshop in our school Hall on Wednesday 11th September, at 4.00pm. Attendance at this workshop is a requirement for all of our Year 4 Catholic students wishing to make their First Communion in October.
Uniform Review
This week we held our first meeting as we begin the process of reviewing the St Jude's school uniform. I would like to thank Alison and Monique, from our parent bodies, the School Advisory Council and our Friends of St Jude's committee (FOSJ) for being a part of the discussions. We have surveyed a selection of students to gather a 'student voice' and we have several staff members taking part in the review committee.
It is essential that we do not lose the history behind our current uniforms as we carry out this review. However, it is an opportunity to ensure that we have modern fabrics and designs that are practical for our students.
We look forward to sharing our thoughts and seeking feedback from the community as our review progresses.
Principal Conference
CEWA Principals have been invited to attend the Trans-Tasman Principals' Conference in New Zealand during Week 10 of this term. Mr Maher and Ms Madafferi will lead the school whilst I am attending the conference. Please do not hesitate to contact them if required during this time. I look forward to being able to share our fabulous school story with Principals across Australia and NZ whilst I am there.

Children from Year 1 - Year 3 are welcome to be a part of the Children's Liturgy at the 9am parish Mass this Sunday. This week, children's Liturgy is being led by Mrs Ty and Ms Madafferi.

CEWA Child Safe Framework
Have you heard of the CEWA Child Safe Framework?
Over the term we have looked at the 3 key concepts that underpin the CEWA Child Safe Framework and the nine elements that combined, help us to make decisions surrounding child safety in the school.
In the coming weeks, we will unpack one of these nine elements each week and how St Jude's ensures that each element is being addressed.
This week's focus is:
Culture
School leaders understand, create and promote environments that are safe, supportive and engaging. They make their decisions based on the best interests of students.
What does this look like?
- Our school’s leaders prioritise the safety and wellbeing of students.
- Our school’s leaders ensure everyone understands and enacts child safe behaviours.
- Our principal and school board understand and carry out their obligations as outlined in CEWA Child Protection Procedures.
At St Jude's we:
- Community Code of Conduct – Broken apart at every SAC Meeting. regularly reviewed (Annually) and communicated to our school community through our newsletters and posters displayed around the school
- Mandatory Reporting and Child Safety Training for Staff and Volunteers is conducted annually
- Use the CEWA Child Safe Framework which guides our decision making
- Ensure situational prevention is adhered to at all times eg, clear line of site into all classrooms, students are never in a situation where they are alone with an adult at school etc
- Are guided by the Child Safe Team at CEWA
Governance and Leadership requires school leaders to understand, create and promote environments that are safe, supportive and engaging for students. Their decisions are based on the best interests of students, for example:
- Ensuring all members of a school community understand and enact child safe behaviours; and
- Understanding and carrying out their obligations as outlined in system policies and procedures
Have a wonderful weekend!

Colour Splatacular - Coming Soon (20 September)
Last week, students would have received instructions on how to setup their online account for fundraising at: https://myprofilepage.com.au/
There are heaps of prizes on offer and the highest fundraiser from each class gets to SLIME a teacher!
Don't forget that your child will need a white shirt to participate in the colour splatacular. This will be a free dress day for students. Although most of the coloured powder should wash off, students are encouraged to wear old clothes that they wouldn't mind getting stained. Also, don't forget a towel or sheet to put on your car seats for the ride home.
