This week it has started to feel like Christmas is upon us more than ever. School has been busy with numerous Christmas events whilst maintaining curriculum teaching as much as possible. Pupils have completed their assessments for the Autumn Term and there will be an opportunity for parents and carers to discuss pupil progress and attainment at our Parents Evenings early next term.

Y5 to Carleton High School’s Christmas Extravaganza
On Monday morning, Year 5 walked to Carleton High School where they were treated to a Christmas Extravaganza production by the older pupils of our Trust. We always look forward to supporting our Trust schools at their events as they enable our younger pupils to spend quality time becoming familiar with life in our Secondary Schools. Thank you to Mrs Shariff and her staff for accommodating us.
KS2 at the Panto!
On Monday afternoon, all our Key Stage Two pupils went to the Theatre Royal in Wakefield to watch this year’s pantomime, Cinderella. Many of our pupils have never been to a pantomime so this was a magical experience for them.
EYFS & KS1 Christmas Party
On Monday afternoon, our pupils in EYFS and Key Stage One had their Christmas Party in school. They had a wonderful time dancing and playing traditional games such as musical statues! Thank you to all parents and carers who sent in food donations.
On Tuesday evening, we held our annual Winter Wonderland event. This year, we changed the food options and offered home-made soup and apple crumble and custard. These events take an enormous amount of setting up and preparation. Thank you to all my staff who supported to make this happen. Thank you once again to the parent helpers who constantly offer to help us with these events and thank you to all our families for coming. Your support has helped us to raise over £750.00 for school funds.
On Thursday, the Year 3 pupils welcomed their families into school for a guitar concert. Mrs Atack, who has been teaching our pupils guitar for over five years, organised the concert which showcased the learning for this term. Our families were suitably impressed with the progress their children are making.
