FBA & Behavior Plans
FROM DATA COLLECTION TO IMPLEMENTATION
Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is a student-centered team process used in instances when behavior negatively impacts a student’s learning or that of the student’s peers. Participants will learn how to use the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to collect meaningful data that helps determine the function, or root cause, of student behavior.
IU Consultants Dr Mariha Shields & Amanda Anderson will guide participants through the FBA process, sharing resources and tips for data collection, analysis, and implementation. Participants will analyze sample data and practice developing hypotheses and behavior interventions/plans based on fictional scenarios derived from real behaviors occurring in our classrooms. Participants will learn how to collect data for both informal behavior assessments/plans as well as for Positive Behavior Support Plans that are part of IEPs.
