Have a lovely weekend!
I hope you will enjoy looking at what we have been up to. Please remember to follow us on Instagram (Swinefleet_Pr).
Pearls
Pearls class have been continuing to learn about ‘People Who Help Us’. Over the last two weeks, we have been learning about refuse collectors and how we sort our rubbish into the correct colour bins. We have also been learning about doctors, dentists and nurses and how they help us too. We have been talking about keeping healthy and the importance of eating a healthy diet, exercising and brushing our teeth.
In maths lessons, we have been learning about our numbers to 10, we have been singing songs and counting out amounts. In our provision, we have been exploring capacity in water play, using playdough to make people, counting out teddies to match the number given and exploring Autumn objects in our mud kitchen!
Next week, we will be continuing our ‘People Who Help Us’ theme and also learning about harvest.
Rubies
In English, we finished our old hospital descriptions and we used some amazing vocabulary and are so proud of our writing :)
In maths, we have been looking at number lines and had a go at ordering numbers from smallest to greatest.
In science, we talked about all things human and investigated our bodies. We looked at our bones, organs and how we are all different in different ways.
Next week, we are hopefully taking a trip to a care home to look at how social care has changed since Florence Nightingale. Keep a look out for some photos of our visit :)
Diamonds
We have also been drafting our Iron Man stories and we have had some fabulous descriptive writing about how Iron Man puts his body parts back together. We can't wait to see the published work!
Sapphires
In Maths, we have been looking at negative numbers and inverse operations.
In humanities, we have been researching Benjamin Franklin on the laptops and looking the many inventions he created, we also placed all the inventors we have explored so far on timelines to see the progression throughout the 20th century.
We have had lots of fun in RE and worldviews looking at pilgrimages and writing postcards showing what a journey would entail.
Still on the theme of inventors the children have been practicing art techniques of perspective and shading working towards a final piece based on the Wright's Brothers aircraft.

Cooking for Help the Homelezz
The children love cooking especially for a worthy cause and soon will be starting to grow their own produce again for future meals. Our allotment is looking sad after two years of Covid and Governor, Mrs Beadle, and the children would love any green fingered help in clearing the allotment ready for growing. If you would like to help please let a member of the team know.
Cooking dates for Autumn:

Diamonds 20th October
Sapphires 29th November
Pearls will then cook in January.
Keep an eye out for photos!

Diamonds (Years 3 & 4) - Mondays and Wednesdays

Please note that jewellery should not be worn for P.E due to Health and Safety reasons. If your child has their ears pierced then please help them to remove their earrings on a morning before school if possible on P.E days.
School Uniform
This should consist of a red jumper/cardigan/school hoodie, white polo-shirt/shirt and black or grey skirt/trousers/shorts. Summer dresses or black/grey pinafore dresses can also be worn. Shoes should be black. Please avoid wearing trainers - if worn these must be black. Our uniform policy is available on the school website.
School logos do not need to be worn but if you would like to order logo uniform then please contact the school office.
Book bags can also be purchased from the school office.
If you think you are eligible for free school meals even if your child does not want school dinners then please do apply as we can offer support with uniform and free P.E kit. Mrs Risebury will happily explain how to do this so please feel free to give her a call.
Reading Rewards
Children earns reads for each day that they read at home/are read to at home. Only one read is counted each day.
This half-term the levels for reading will be as follows:
Bronze - 18 reads
Silver - 24 reads
Gold - 36 reads
Reading clubs are worth 3 reads and these will be start in Week 2.
Reads can be logged on Tapestry, Seesaw or on paper. We prefer reading logged online and ideally as a voice note or video so that staff can hear their reading and comment back. If your child is younger sharing a story with them counts as a read this means that it is accessible to all.
Our last reward was great fun with bouncy castles and lots of water!
Out of School Achievements
Special Educational Needs
On a Wednesday morning between 8:30 and 9:00am, Mrs Thurlow (School SENDCo) will be available on the school playground should you wish to speak to her.
