A Letter From Principal Mills...........

Dear Bridgeport Families,

As we inch closer to the end of this school year, we are beginning to prepare for next year. I have a great feeling about the upcoming 2024-25 school year!

One important step in preparing for next school year is tentatively placing students in groups that will be their classes. This is a process that we complete in the spring. Teams that include their current teachers, specialists, the counseling team, and the admin team work together to create four balanced groups at each grade level, one for each class. We consider student academic levels, social skills, behavior needs, individualized plans, and student history as we make these placements.

We also consider family input as a part of that process and invite you to fill out this form if you would like to share more about the classroom environment and peer dynamics that are most successful for your student. I do not honor requests for individual teachers. I am confident that all of our Bridgeport teachers are well-equipped to teach all of our students, which is one of the main reasons why our emphasis is always on balanced classroom groups rather than on individual teacher characteristics.

We will hold on sharing the results of this placement process until right before the beginning of next school year. There are many students that move into and out of our boundaries, as well as staffing changes over the summer that often necessitate adjustments to the original placement plan. For those reasons, we will wait until the end of August to notify families of their student’s teacher for next year.

    Youth Poetry Contest Hosted by Oregon Poetry Association

    This is a great activity to encourage creative writing and can be a good supplemental enrichment for students who would like to challenge themselves creatively and intellectually.


    There are three divisions (ES, MS, HS). The selection committee will choose up to 10 winners. Winners will receive $50 each and publication in the online issue of Cascadia Magazine.


    Families are encouraged to be involved in the submission since a parent/guardian email is required.
