This is Principal Bletterman with the weekly news:

We hope everyone can join us tonight, October 25th, for our Trunk or Treat Community Event here at Palmyra GATE Magnet! It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together, and we look forward to seeing our families, students, and staff enjoying the evening.

This past week, we had a fantastic time celebrating Red Ribbon Week with our theme, "Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free!" It was inspiring to see so many students participate in themed dress-up days, proudly pledging to stay drug-free. Our annual door contest added to the excitement, and we’re pleased to announce this year’s winners:

1st Place: Mrs. Bretza's 2nd grade class
2nd Place: Mrs. Craig and Mrs. Herndon
3rd Place: Mrs. Shallcross

Thank you to everyone for making Red Ribbon Week a success once again!

We’re also thrilled to share that, thanks to your incredible support, this year’s Jog-a-Thon raised over $22,000! These funds will go directly towards enriching our community activities and supporting student programs throughout the 2024-2025 school year.

As Halloween approaches next week, please remember that students are welcome to wear fall-themed shirts or colors. Costumes, however, are not allowed on campus.

We invite you to participate in the OUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Survey.

This survey is a valuable opportunity for parents, guardians, students, and community members to share thoughts on improving academic programs, school facilities, student support services, and more. We have copies of the form available in the front office and it is linked below! Your responses will help us prioritize areas of improvement for the upcoming school year.

2025 GATE Screening & Testing

The 2025 GATE screening process for students in grades 2-6 is underway.

All students in 3rd grade will be screened for GATE. If you do not wish for your child to be screened, complete and return to our school office the Opt Out form linked below. You may also get a copy of the form from our school office or from your child's teacher.
Students in grades 2, 4, 5, and 6 may be referred by parents or teachers for the GATE testing process by completing the GATE referral form linked below . The deadline to refer your child is Wednesday, January 21, 2025

There will be two virtual parent information sessions hosted by the OUSD GATE office. These will be held using Microsoft Teams. See the bottom of the 2025 GATE Screening Information flyer linked below below for links to the meetings.

Please ensure that all students have their phones and smartwatches silenced or airplane mode during school hours. If you need to reach your student, you can either send a message to the teacher via ClassDojo or call the front office.
