A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
This week went by in a FLASH! We are enjoying the signs of spring and the opportunity to enjoy outdoor recess every day. We all benefit from a burst of fresh air and runaround time!
Spring is “field trip season” and we have several coming up. This week and next, our Second Grade classes are visiting Lake Forest Open Lands to explore prairie and wetland ecosystems. Their trip focuses on investigating the living and non-living characteristics of each ecosystem, and comparing/contrasting the adaptations of animals living in those conditions. Next week, Third Grade will be going bowling in support of their Science unit on force and motion. What an authentic way to explore these principles!
We look forward to welcoming in ALL Shark families next Thursday evening for Family Sharing Night. Early Childhood families are invited in from 5:00-5:45 pm and K-4 from 5:45-6:30 pm. As always, walk to school if you can, and if our parking lot is full we have secured street parking on Spruce east of Sheridan Road. Please do not park on our front grass as it creates a visual hazard for Sheridan Road drivers and you could get ticketed. We are also looking forward to the Spring Book Fair next Thursday and our final SPARK Readers event on Friday. See below for more information on each of these.
From the Librarian: Our Spring Book Fair is coming up on April 24th. Classes will visit during the school day. If your child would like to purchase a book, please send them with money in an envelope or baggie. $15-$20 is typically enough. We coordinated this date with Family Sharing Night to extend the sale into the evening - Lake Forest Book Store will be staying through the evening to sell a selection of books, including great options for family reading, as well as titles that may interest parents. Please consider stopping by the Library when you are in the building.
