Administrative Assertions
Happy Leap Day! Since the Earth does not orbit the Sun in exactly 365 days, the integration of a leap day gives us a bonus day in the year. As we March towards spring, we want to share that we are impressed with the overall focus that our students have on their learning. Learning experiences at ECCHS are vast and diverse so we want to acknowledge the skillset of our staff as they create engaging experiences for students to pursue their passions.
Thank you to Grade 10 students and their parents who participated in the Alberta Education Assurance Survey. This information informs us around making important decisions around teaching and learning and helps prioritize our goals. ÉCCHS students have also been selected to participate in the Health Canada 2023-2024 Canadian Student Alcohol and Drugs Survey. Parents, watch for a message detailing this survey and information about how to provide parental consent for student participation in it.
We are excited for a new feature of our school known as The Show, a student-driven YouTube program that keeps our school informed on news and upcoming events. Thank you to our students who participate on The Show!
Sparked by Mr. and Mrs. Cole’s participation in a push-up challenge, the Student-Led Mental Health Committee held a Staff versus Students Push-Up Competition that resulted in a lunch hour of thousands of push-ups! What a great way to raise awareness around important issues related to Health and Wellness.
The Senior Band traveled to Calgary this month and performed at the Alberta International Band Festival at the University of Calgary. They had an amazing performance and ranked “Excellent”.
As we move into the month of March, we will begin our planning for next year. Our administrative team will be visiting classrooms and begin our registration process. Please ask your student about their class picks and watch for more information shared through school messenger outlining this process.
Have a fantastic March, everyone!
Please contact us if you have questions.

Music Department Notes 🎶
- The Senior Concert Band has returned from Calgary, having performed in the Alberta International Band Festival on Saturday, February 24. The students earned high praise from the Adjudicators and offered helpful advice to improve their craft ahead of the Camrose Music Festival in April, and the Provincial Festival of Bands in May. The students also visited the National Music Centre & Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Telus SPARK Science Centre, and attended a live performance of the music from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, accompanied by the movie in real time.
- The Junior 9 Band will join other BRSD Band programs on Friday, March 8th at ECKS for the 2nd annual Band Celebration Day. Field Trip permission forms are attached found in Rycor.
- The Choir, Junior 9 Band, Senior Concert Band, and Senior Jazz Band will all participate in the Camrose Music Festival in April.
- Grocery Card Fundraising orders are due March 12. Payments can be made via cchsmpamusicpayments@gmail.com and order forms are available for download from each ensemble's Google Classroom (and paper copies in the Music Room).
What Staff Are Reading
BRACE Shared Student Update
Just a reminder to students taking courses through BRACE that you need to be submitting work on a weekly basis. All courses have timelines and due dates and students are expected to follow these guidelines. Students who are not being active in their courses and have not submitted any work will be withdrawn this month. Please check your emails to make sure you are receiving updates from your BRACE teacher. If you have any questions, please contact us at the school.
Many students need these credits in order to graduate so it's important to stay on top of your school work and communicate with your BRACE teachers.
Remember BRACE is open late on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7:30 pm if students would like to come in and get support.

While our $500 early-bird promotion discount ended last December, we have extended the offer by giving a $350 discount to the students who will register by February 29th, 2024.
But here's an even better deal: if three students register at the same time until April 1st, each can receive a $500 discount, regardless of whether they come from the same school or not. This offers significant savings for each participant, making it a great opportunity to join with friends and enjoy the experience together.
If you or any students have questions about the program or are interested in registering, please feel free to contact me directly at equinsay@intraxinc.com. For more details, you can also visit our website at https://www.intraxjp.com/ayusa/summer/. Attached is the summer camp flyer for your reference.
