A special welcome to Zane and his family who have joined Kaimai School. Zane is in Ruma Ruru and it feels like he has always been here. What a great start to your new school Zane!

We are planning for Ag Day which is early next term. There will be some information out shortly regarding updates and general info. We are really looking forward to the day.

A special thank you to Liz Gallaghan who was teaching in Ruma Kiwi while Rebecca was away. Miss C is now back at school and had a lovely time with her family. Welcome back Miss C.

Choir Performance at Baycourt

Last week our Choir performed at Baycourt in the Tauranga Schools Choir Festival. They spent Tuesday at rehearsals preparing for the big night. They did a great job! There are videos on our Facebook page for you to check out.

Wig Wednesday 7 September

If you haven't already, it's time to start taming your wig or perfecting your funkiest hairdo! We are looking forward to seeing a wave of colourful wigs and wacky hairstyles around Kaimai School tomorrow in support of all the kiwi kids who lose their hair during cancer treatment. Please bring along a gold coin donation if you can.

Baking Club at Kaimai

What a treat of delights last week. Our baking club got to make brownies and chocolate chip biscuits. They were simply delicious. All the baking was done from scratch by the team of student helpers. Baking club is so popular that there is a rotation of groups. One group each week will have a go.

Way to go Josh!

Josh is representing Kaimai School at the Aims Games this week. The Aims Games is like the Olympics for year 7 and 8 students. Thousands of students and hundreds of schools flood into Tauranga this week to compete. Josh has entered into the Mountain Biking Section. That is probably why he is so good on wheels at our skatepark. All the very best Josh. Give it you all and we are very proud of you!

Year 7 and 8 Tech

This week our year 7 and 8 students travel to Taumata School for tech. They have a total of four days a term, all taking place in one week block. Each person is making a cushion for soft materials, a light box in hard materials as well as lots of cooking in food tech. The process of design is the same in all areas. We can't wait to showcase their designs!

Respect Whakatue

Respect, Whakatue is one of our very important school values. Over the next few weeks we are going to be focusing on what respect looks like, sounds like and feels like at Kaimai School. Respect can be summed up this way: It's about treating others as you would like to be treated. We would love you to ask your children to tell you some of the ways they have been respectful each day.

Student Cellphone use at Kaimai School

We wanted to share our procedures around cell phone use for students at our school. We don't encourage students to bring cellphones, however we do understand that they are needed for some after school situations.

Our procedures are:

cellphones are handed in to the class teacher at the start of the school day and given back at the end of the day
if whanau need to get in contact with a child, please contact the school office 07 543 0999 and we will pass the message on
for bus students, cellphones can be checked before getting on the bus, but are not to be used while on the bus.
