Eagle News
December 16. 2024
A Message from Mrs. Cornett
We are in the final stretch of the fall semester. It is hard to fathom that we are mere days away from the end of 2024. It has been an incredible first semester of the year. It is a privelege to watch our Eagle students as they learn, grow, and mature. I am fortunate to work with our wonderful staff to educate our students every day. Thank you for your support of your students and our campus!
Please encourage your Eagle to be in class every day so they are prepared for their semester exams. The semester exam schedule is included for your reference. Students will take two exams per day over the last four days of the semester. Exams may not be taken early.
Please note, we have an early release on Friday, December 20th at 12:35pm. Buses will run immediately after school. Car riders need to be picked up early as well as we will not have any staff available to watch students after 1pm.
VMS Staff Shout Outs
Fine Arts
Theater - Anastasia
The VMS theater department under the direction of Mr. Gonzalez put on an incredible performance of Anastasia. We are incredibly proud of the dedication our students have to performing at the highest level. The countless hours of rehearsal obviously paid off. It was one of the best performances I have ever seen and many staff members and parents said the same thing. Outstanding job!
Choir
The VMS Choir put on a fantastic winter concert on December 10th. Our singers did a beautiful job under the direction of Ms. Herrera. Thank you for kicking off our holiday concert season with festive music and excellent performances.
Band and Orchestra
Our VMS band and orchestra have been busy performing at area elementary schools, the BISD cookies and cocoa event and winter concerts. It is such a pleasure to see our students peform and do what they enjoy. Their gift and love of music is evident in all they do. Great job Eagle musicians!
Athletics Corner
Girls Basketball
The 8th grade rode an emotional roller coaster on Thursday night. The B team lost a thrilling overtime game in the final minute. The A team played dominant defense and came away with a great win. Both groups played with undeniable heart!
7th grade played a tough Kerrville team. 7b lost 24-10. We saw great hustle and play from Katelyn Vogt. 7a won 21-20. Bentley Roquemore led all scorers with 13 points including the game winning free throw with 4 seconds left. Great job girls.
Boys Basketball
8th grade took home a pair of dominating victories on Tuesday night. The boys defensive intensity and selflessness on offense set the tone for a dominant night on our home court.
7th grade split a pair of hard fought games. The A team battled till the final buzzer, come up short late in the fourth quarter. The B team shared the ball and collectively put the game out of reach.
VMS Student Recognition - Brianna Hulce
Brianna Hulce, a 6th grader at Voss Middle School has been busy representing Boerne ISD. She recently won the Rush Limbaugh Foundation's Rush Revere Reward for Academic Excellence which is a nationwide competition. The contestants were tasked with reading the Rush Revere Book series and then in a creative way explain what they liked most about the books. Below is the YouTube video she made: https://youtu.be/oNgZveDwb1Y
Brianna was also recently honored at the Bryan Museum in Galveston for winning the honor of "Top Writer" in the I Am Texas writing and art contest. This was out of a pool of 900 contestants. She wrote a "Letter to Charlotte" describing her 6th great grandmother's arduous immigration journey from Germany to New Braunfels in 1845. Her letter is now part of the permanent collection of the Bryan Museum and it was published in the museum's I Am Texas historians journal. She read her letter to a crowd of 250 people as Boerne ISD was named in the slideshow as she spoke.

See Something, Say Something
School safety is very important, and it's up to all of us to work together as a team to prevent bad things from happening.
If we all stay alert and work as a team to report dangerous or suspicious activity, we can help keep our schools safe.
