Parent-Teacher Conferences Continue This Week
- understand your child's performance at school,
- learn how you can help at home, and
- share information about your child that can help us support him/her at school.
Please make every effort to attend your child's conference as scheduled. If you need to reschedule, please reach out to your child's teacher. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our students' families!
Scholastic Book Fair
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is set up and ready to open on Monday!
Book Fair Hours
Students will be provided time to visit during the school day with their class and during some recesses. Families are also invited to come at the following times:
- Mon. 11/14 – 1:45-6:00 PM
- Tues. 11/15 – 1:45-3:30 PM
- Weds. 11/16 – 1:45-3:30 PM
- Thurs. 11/17 – 1:45-3:30 PM
- Fri. 11/18 - 1:45-3:30 PM
Book Fair Payment Options
In addition to accepting cash, credit cards, and checks payable to GLC PTSA, families are encouraged to set up eWallet, a safe cash-free way for your child to shop. This digital payment option can be used at the in-person Book Fair or online at the Virtual Book Fair (which includes an expanded selection of over 5,000 products).
Here's how eWallet works:
- Create an account for each child (start HERE)
- Add funds...or invite family and friends to contribute
- Shop the Book Fair
- Spend unused funds online or fund an eWallet for your next Fair!
After the Fair, remaining eWallet funds are not returned to a credit card but instead, become a gift card balance that can be used online with Scholastic or to fund an eWallet for a future Book Fair. Be sure to sign in with the same email used to create the eWallet.
See you at the Fair!
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/glc. Thank you!
PTSA Updates!
The next big PTSA event is Ornaments Around the World. This annual event provides families a fun - and FREE - way to spend time together while making ornaments for their house or tree. At the same time, families learn about holidays and decorations from countries around the world. The event will be held on Monday, Dec. 5th from 5:00-6:30 PM in the MPR.
Volunteers - We will need volunteers to help with hot chocolate, assist at craft stations for 30-minute blocks, organize materials in advance, and more. If you are interested in helping in any of these ways, please complete this volunteer interest form. Thank you!
Parenting in the Digital Age - Tools you need!
Thank you to our parents who were able to attend our PTSA presentation on parenting in the digital age! The presenter shared a great resource that we want to pass on to families. Common Sense Education is a website that families can use for all kinds of questions about movies, TV, apps, games, websites, and more. For example, families can look up the age-appropriateness of games, movies, and more.
Two of our favorite resources are the Ultimate Guides for parents and the Family Media Agreement:
- Ultimate Guides for Parents - Check out these summaries of various apps and social media platforms. If your child uses one of the following, these Ultimate Guides are for you!
Parents' Ultimate Guide to Instagram
Parents' Ultimate Guide to Roblox
Parents' Ultimate Guide to Snapchat
Parents' Ultimate Guide to TikTok - Family Media Agreement - The family media agreement is a great tool for families who have purchased devices, such as phones, for their children. The agreement outlines how children will take care of, stay safe, think first, stay balanced, and communicate openly regarding their phone use. Family agreements are also included.
