PGCPS UPDATES
REMINDER: ParentVue Accounts for all Families
As we prepare for this school year, one of the biggest adjustments that we will navigate through as a community is PGCPS’ transition from SchoolMax to Synergy. Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, families will now use ParentVUE, in place of Family Portal, to access important information about their students. ParentVUE is the portal that allows parents and guardians to view information about their student, including classroom assignments and scores, attendance, transcripts, graduation status and more. In ParentVUE, families can also update their phone numbers and emergency contact information and access the Online Registration (OLR) Application. A PGCPS ParentVUE account is needed to complete the required Online Registration (OLR) Application to register your student in PGCPS. This application is completed for students new to PGCPS, transferring within the county, or returning to PGCPS. You may access the ParentVUE link below:
PGCPS Culture and Climate Survey
Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) would like you to share your thoughts on the district's culture and climate. PGCPS will use the feedback received to ensure that district offerings meet the needs of students, parents, and staff, consistent with the district’s goals.
To thank you for your participation, all respondents who complete the survey can enter a drawing/contest. If you qualify and would like to enter the drawing, you will be asked to provide your contact information at the end of the survey, which will only be seen by PGCPS. Your contact information will not be tied to your survey responses.
Your feedback is essential to the district, and we appreciate your thoughtful responses. All responses will remain anonymous and will only be reported to the district in the aggregate. This survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.Thank you for your participation!
Please click the link here to complete the survey. Your feedback is paramount, in increasing our rating with the Maryland Report Card.

Grade Level and Program Updates
9th Grade Updates
As we work together to ensure your child’s success this year, here are some important reminders to help support a smooth transition to 10th grade, keeping them on track for timely graduation:
Attendance is Crucial:
Encourage regular attendance. Missing classes can quickly lead to falling behind. Consistent attendance is key to academic success.Stay on Top of Grades:
Monitor grades through the parent portal and encourage your child to communicate with teachers if they need help. Timely intervention is important for improving any low grades.Course Credits:
Students need to earn at least 5 credits by the end of 9th grade to stay on track for graduation. Ensure your child completes all courses with passing grades.Support in Core Subjects:
Keep a special focus on English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Success in these core areas is foundational for the next grade level.Develop Strong Study Habits:
Help your child establish a consistent study routine at home. Encourage them to dedicate time daily to review material and complete homework.Get Involved in School Activities:
Encourage participation in clubs, sports, or extracurriculars. These activities can build social connections and improve time management skills.Stay in Communication with Teachers and Counselors:
Build strong relationships with your child’s teachers and counselors. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or need updates on progress.Behavior Matters:
Remind your child about the importance of maintaining good behavior and following school rules. Disciplinary issues can impact academic success.
Together, we can ensure that your child successfully completes 9th grade and is well-prepared for 10th grade. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any support.

Student Service Learning Hours Goal:
Our goal is for **65% of the class** to secure their Service Learning Hours. The Key Club has graciously agreed to partner with the class to support this goal. Thank you, once again for your support. We've got this!
