- Tuesday, October 4, 6:30 p.m.

Glenbard Parents as Teachers Supports Families
Glenbard Parents as Teachers (GPaT) is a Prevention Initiative program funded by the Illinois State Board of Education and administered by the Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE). This program targets families whose children are at risk of academic failure due to either child or family factors. Priority concerns are homelessness, extreme poverty, families involved with DCFS, and/or a child with a developmental delay or disability. It is currently open to families with children birth to three and pregnant moms in districts 15, 16, 41, 44 and 89 and is completely voluntary.
Home visitors provide individualized home visits to support and guide parents. Families receive bi-weekly home visits for parent-child interaction and family support, weekly group sessions, ongoing developmental screening, and connection to needed community resources. In addition to the home visits, the home visitors also provide parent-child interactive groups in Glen Ellyn and Glendale Heights. They work in conjunction with the Glenbard Early Childhood Collaborative and other home visiting programs. Services are provided in both English and Spanish, with interpreters for other languages as needed.
