Notes From the Superintendent
Greetings,
Welcome to November. It’s hard to believe that just a few days ago temperatures hovered in the 70s! Here are a few highlights as we move into the heart of fall and approach the holiday season:
PLC Wednesdays-otherwise known as Late Start/Early Release Wednesdays:
Through our Late Start/Early Release schedule, we create valuable time for our educators to collaborate and grow together. We are a large district and this time is so valuable on many fronts. This weekly collaboration time allows teachers to refine their instructional approaches, accelerate student growth, and strengthen safety protocols from elementary through high school. Through focused and ongoing collegial work in lesson planning, assessment strategies, data analysis, emergency plans and procedures, our educators are strengthening the educational journey from a child's first day of kindergarten through high school graduation. These work sessions continue to move the district forward as we build the most cohesive and effective learning environments where students of all ages can reach their full potential. We thank everyone for continued support.
As mentioned in previous district newsletters, Harriman and Associates is working diligently to complete the district-wide facilities study. At this writing, the Harriman team has toured each school and met with administrators to gain a deeper understanding of the strengths and limitations of each building. This information will be crucial as we begin the budgeting process and look to create a long term Facilities Plan. Once the study is complete, the district will host informational sessions to review the study findings with parents and community members.
This November Newsletter showcases a wide-range of events and daily activities occurring in the schools. It’s always impressive to see just how busy and vibrant the schools and programs are on any given day!
As always, thank you for your continued partnership in education.
Regards,
Audra Beauvais

Monthly Math Moment is back with a series of episodes about mathematical representations. Although elementary math concepts haven’t changed much, the way we teach and model it certainly has! Join math coach Amanda McIntire as we investigate the models used to help elementary students conceptualize mathematics. In this first episode we’ll explore a representation called a “number bond” and how it is used in grades K-5.
