PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, May 31st
We made it! What a wonderful end of year week full of fun! We had perfect weather for our Field Day on Wednesday and the sun was shining as everyone got their Kona Ice this morning. It certainly was a wonderful way to end the week! Thank you PTA for treating our students! We want to thank all the parents who were able to volunteer for Field Day, we couldn't have done it without your help!
We loved seeing our 5th Graders off in style with a lovely clap-out at the end of the day! The end of the year is always a bittersweet one as we say goodbye to this grade! I have no doubt that every single one of them is going to make an excellent Thomas Timberwolf and I can't wait to hear all about their adventures in Middle School!
As the year comes to a close, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for your patience and grace as we navigated this year, especially with the construction. We can't wait to see the finished product when we come back!
Our office will be open until Friday, June 14th. We do have some meetings scheduled and at times we will be working in different parts of the building. Please call or email before heading over so we can make sure someone is in the office when you arrive to greet you! There will be some construction work occurring at Patton on Friday, June 7th that requires the power to be shut off. The school will be closed that day. After June 14th the office will close and will reopen on Thursday, July 25th.
On behalf of myself and all the Patton staff, we hope you enjoy your summer break and we can't wait to see you all on THURSDAY, AUGUST 29th!
Happy Summer!
Ellie Chin
FIELD DAY FUN!
Huge thanks also goes to Suzanne Fasolo for taking these excellent photos for us!! We cannot thank you enough for capturing all the fun!!!
FIFTH GRADE CHICAGO FIELD TRIP!
Our Fifth graders had an amazing day in the city on Thursday! They enjoyed a beautiful blue sky day at Millennium Park and then got to tour Wrigley Field! We wish all our 5th graders well as they leave Patton and head over to Thomas. As Olaf says, "Oh, I love happy endings." Our 5th graders are all truly worth melting for and we will miss them tremendously.
FUTURE BAND OPPORTUNITIES AT PATTON (NEW POST!)
This week, the whole school enjoyed a concert by the Patton Beginning Band! Students in D25 begin their band experience in fifth grade. There are many instruments from which students may choose. There is no requirement for previous musical experience for most instruments, but if a student wishes to learn percussion (drums, mallets, bells, etc.), there is a requirement that the student must first have 2 years of formal piano lessons. More information about this and all the instruments offered in fifth grade and beyond may be found here: Elementary Band Information
FAREWELL FRIENDS!
As sad as we are to announce the retirement of 3 of our amazing teachers, we are very excited for what the future holds for them! Mrs Corley, Mr Dolniak and Mrs McLoone have been such amazing members of the Patton family for a combined total of 74 years and we will definitely miss them! We wish them well in their retirement!
GOOD LUCK DR BEIN!
Dr Bein is retiring at the end of this month after 10 years as District 25's Superintendent. We wish her all the best in her retirement and are excited to welcome Dr. Brian Kaye as our new Superintendent.
SUMMER READING!
If any of you are worried about the "Summer slide" have no fear......the Arlington Heights Memorial Library is here!!!
They have lots of resources available for you to keep kiddos busy and, most importantly, to ward off the dreaded (yet inevitable) "I'M BORED!!!"
