Hello Ockley Families,

It was wonderful to have cooler weather this week. Thank you to everyone who reached out to ask about how you can advocate for our facility needs. I know that there is planning happening in PPS for long-term solutions for our many aging buildings, but in the meantime, I will continue to do all that I can to keep our building at at temperature that helps our students be able to focus on learning.

We have many upcoming events the next couple of weeks. Picture Day is next week and our Back to School Night is coming on Sept. 26th. Check out the information below for SUN Community School, which will start their enrollment next week and classes will start the week of October 7th.

Save the Date for September 26th and join us for Back to School Night. Back by popular demand, we will offer a Resource Fair at 5:30 and then start with our Welcome Address at 6:00. After a brief Welcome, you will be able to follow your child's schedule and meet their teachers.

Hi families! It is allllllmost time to start registering for SUN Fall term. Registration will open on Monday September 16th. I will be visiting class rooms to talk about our class offerings that day so I wanted to give you some details before.

Term will run from October 7th-December 12th 4:00pm-6:00pm

In order to participate students and families will need to fill out 2 forms: class selection form and the enrollment form. These will both be published on the school website and sent out via email to families that participated last year. Please make sure your student is involved in the class selection process, this makes everyone’s life much easier. Classes can fill up quick (we are proud to cap our classes at 15 students) so I suggest signing up quick!

Middle Schools have some changes that impact the start/end times for students. The following will start this school year:

• the regular school day is extended by 15 minutes to end at 4:00 PM;
• staff meetings will now take place in the morning before school begins, resulting in a slightly later start for students; and
• there are 6 early release days for professional development.

Achoo!! It is that time of year where we can not keep enough tissue in the building. We welcome any donations of boxes of tissue for our classroom. You can drop off boxes to the Front Office and we will get them out to our classrooms.

September 19th - Picture Day

September 25th - Early Release for Students @ 1:45

September 26th - Back to School Night, 5:30 - 7:30

October 1st - OG Supporters Meeting, 7:00, Virtual Meeting

October 11th - No School, Statewide Inservice Day

October 15th - Late Start, Students @ 9:30
