Dr. V's Message
California State Thespian Festival
Rancho Buena Vista’s Drama Troupe, led by Ms. Mackenzie Scott, proudly represented our school at the 2025 California State Thespian Festival—California’s biggest theater competition, often called the “CIF Playoffs” of theater. Over 1,100 students from 60 schools competed in acting, tech, playwriting, and more. Some of our students earned top honors, including Superior Ratings, which qualify them to perform at the International Festival this summer in Indiana. We’re incredibly proud of our Longhorn artists and their directors for this outstanding accomplishment!
Aurora W. - Ellis Jordan Scholarship - For: International Thespian Festival Registration.
Anthony S. - Playworks: The murder of Studio Company's Boss.
Elijah B. - Superior Thespy, Musical Solo.
420 Remix PSA Contest Voting
420 Remix PSA Contest Voting is live!! Survey will close end of day on Monday 4/14/25. We have Longhorns who submitted for this contest! Please support them.
What is 420 Remix?
420 Remix began in 2004 as an initiative by the North Coastal Prevention Program (NCPC) in collaboration with the Vista Community Clinic (VCC). Since its launch, each event has inspired young people to make wise decisions, resist peer pressure, and lead healthy, drug-free lives.
420 Remix is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of marijuana use among teens aged 12 to 18. By changing the perspective of April 20th—a day commonly associated with cannabis culture—this event encourages young people to embrace healthy, drug-free lifestyles.

3rd Annual Community Resource Fair
"See Something, Hear Something, Say Something"
A key resource in fostering a safe and supportive school climate at RBV is PSST World, an anonymous reporting tool that empowers students to report safety concerns confidentially. Fear of retaliation often prevents students from speaking up, but PSST World provides a secure way to report bullying, cyberbullying, abuse, threats, self-harm, weapons, or other issues affecting school safety—without revealing their identity.
Students only need to provide their name if they wish to be contacted. To submit a report, click here or on the PSST World icon above. Explore the videos and resources on this page to learn more. Thank you for helping keep RBV and VUSD a safe place to learn and grow!
Please feel free to browse through the videos shown to the right of this page for more information. Also, additional resources are also linked below that will help you create a PSST shortcut on your device.
State Testing is Here for 11th Graders
How to Help your Student Shine on State Assessments
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is here. This annual state assessment helps measure student learning and growth in key subjects. Starting April 8th and going for the next 4 weeks, grade 11 will take assessments in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. These computer-based tests help students prepare for the future by building skills like problem-solving, writing, and critical thinking. The tests also help teachers and schools understand how well students are learning, ensuring they get effective lessons and the right support.
Parents can help their students get ready to shine on the CAASPP assessments. Here are resources for parents and students that you can access at home:
Parent Information
Student Practice
Starting Smarter – CAASPP - Go to the “Check out the test questions” section for practice problems and answer keys.
CAASPP Practice & Training Tests - Help your student learn the test format, use helpful tools, and practice answering questions.
Smarter Balanced – Sample Questions & Essays - See question types and view sample student essays with scoring explanations.
How Parents Can Help
Encourage your students to keep a positive attitude, and always praise their effort and growth.
Remind students that they are capable and prepared to show their learning.
Encourage healthy habits: Get 8-10 hours of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, get daily exercise, and arrive at school on time each day.
Talk to your teachers about how to support learning at home.
We appreciate your support to help your students practice and build confidence so they are ready to shine on the CAASPP!

Sport Request Form
Are you looking for a sport but do not see it on our website? The form below is to request the school to look into offering new CIF sports on campus.
Dear RBV Families and Community,
We’re excited to announce a new initiative to strengthen collaboration and dialogue between our students, families, and athletic program. Beginning this school year, we’re introducing a Sport Request Form designed to give students and community members the opportunity to express interest in adding new sports to our school’s athletic offerings. This form allows us to gather valuable insights, gauge interest, and better understand the needs and wishes of our community when it comes to expanding athletic opportunities.
While we are committed to exploring each request thoughtfully, please know that there are various factors that affect our ability to implement new sports, including resources, staffing, and facility availability. Even so, your input is essential as it helps us make informed decisions and better align our programs with the interests and passions of our students.
The Sport Request Form is available on our website at www.rbvathletics.com, and we welcome submissions throughout the year.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community and for helping us continue to foster a dynamic and inclusive athletic environment for our students.
We are seeing an increase in students riding electric bikes to school. We have a new parking area for the bikes and students have been doing great with using our new procedures. We have a few resources to share regarding bike safety as well as a link to the required bike safety course students must attend to obtain a parking permit for their bikes.
Online safety course is being developed to support our students safety.
