Gold for Ashwan!
As a school community we are incredibly proud of Ashwan Singh, who represented New Zealand at the recent 26th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts held in Los Angeles, California. Participants from over 60 countries took part in this prestigious event.
Ashwan performed in five different categories, and won one gold medal, three silver medals, and one semi final medal. Impressively, he was the overall winner of his jazz category (10-12 year age group) division.
Unbelievably this was Ashwan’s first major competition, which happened to be on the world stage!
Ashwan, we couldn’t be any prouder of your achievements. We will keep an eye on your drumming future with great interest. You have displayed an incredible example of our ‘Whaia Kia U- Strive to Succeed’ Learner Dimension.’

Room 13 - Food fridays
Room 13 have been doing Food Fridays for the last few weeks. We are using the context of cooking to link to our learning of fractions, decimals and ratios.
So far we have made waffles and aebliskiver (Danish Doughnuts). The waffles were helpful with quarters and fifths (because of the size of the waffle shares). The aebliskiver were helpful with sharing in groups of seven.
Some Room 4 students were in our class on Friday so they got to share in the snacks.
Congratulations to our Week 4 Certificate Recipients
