Helping our children develop good habits is one of the most lasting gifts we can give our children. As adults, we play a critical role in nurturing and developing these habits. It is important in guiding our children toward routines that will benefit them throughout their lives. When we model consistency and commitment, we help develop a strong foundation for habits that they will carry into adulthood.
One important habit we can encourage is reading. Setting aside time each night to read with your child not only builds a love for reading but also creates a cherished, calming bedtime routine. For younger children, reading aloud is invaluable; for older children, having them read alongside you keeps the habit alive. I believe children are never too old to be read to—it can be a bonding experience, a time to unwind, and an opportunity for learning and conversation. Establishing this reading routine offers both children and parents a special, shared time each day.
Similarly, consistent habits of prayer and attending Mass each weekend can deepen our children’s faith and understanding. By making a commitment to these practices, we help them develop an appreciation for prayer and the Mass, showing them the importance of spending time with God and the value of a faith community. As children grow, this routine becomes part of their lives and their faith journey, shaping who they are and who they will become.
Let us remember that when we model these habits consistently, we not only shape our children's routines but also show them how small, intentional actions can bring peace, joy, and a deeper relationship with God.
Blessings,
Mr. Wiebers

The Annual Appeal
🎄Festival of Trees 🎄
We are happy to announce that our school is part of the Festival of Trees celebration happening at the Gallagher Bluedorn this winter. Instead of making ornaments at school, our Leader in Me Student Lighthouse Celebration team has planned this as a school-wide family service project.
We are asking each Kindergarten-Gr. 8 family to decorate an ornament that will be displayed at the event on our school’s tree. Students took home an ornament earlier this week. Attached to your ornament are directions and the basic supplies needed. You may also need glue, markers, or common household items to complete the project. Feel free to add any other decor to your ornament, however no names go on the ornament. Please do this as a family and return it to school by Friday, November 8. Please return it in the ziplock bag it came in. Throw away any extra materials.
The 36th Annual Festival of Trees “Joy to the World" benefits a variety of projects at MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center which continue the Mission of offering exceptional and compassionate health care to our community. Friends of MercyOne Cedar Falls is pleased to share the gift of the Festival of Trees with the community. The Gallery of Trees and Wreaths will be open for the public to see the week of Tuesday, November 19th through Sunday, November 24, 2024.
If you have any questions, please contact the school.
Thank you for your participation.
Sincerely,
The Student Lighthouse Team
