Final Exams and Schedule Reminder
Dear Families, We want to inform you that during the week of December 16-20, we will be operating on a regular B week schedule. As we approach the end of the semester, please note that final exams are scheduled from Monday, December 16 through Thursday, December 19. Please be sure that your student is studying for their final exams and/or completing final exam projects.
It is important to remember that teachers are not permitted to administer early exams. For those who may need to take make-up exams, they will be held on Friday, December 20 and Monday, January 6 (beginning at 8:30am).
Thank you for your support as our students prepare for their final assessments!
Best regards,
Arabia Mountain Faculty & Staff
Tardiness Reminders
Last week, we conducted several tardy sweeps to address students' lack of urgency in getting to class on time. Timeliness is essential for student success and for maintaining a positive learning environment. We encourage you to speak with your student about the importance of being punctual to all classes. Please note that we will continue conducting random tardy sweeps.
Chronic tardiness is a violation of the DCSD School Choice Attendance Policy and may result in disciplinary action, including the potential removal of your student from the academic program at Arabia Mountain High School. We greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing this important expectation with your student.
What is GA Tutor?
GaTutor is groundbreaking program powered by Georgia Virtual Learning. Georgia-certified teachers with solid content area expertise provide one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored for each individual student.
Best of all, it's entirely free! GaTutor offers flexibility for students, with tutoring sessions available outside of regular school hours. Students select the dates and times that work best for them, making academic success more accessible than ever!
Program Hours:
Monday-Friday 4pm-10pm
Saturday 10am-8pm
Sunday 1pm-8pm
AMHS Spirit Shirt Sale
On the last Friday of each month, AMHS students earn a Spirit Day when they are able to follow school rules; for example get to class on time, dress in the AMHS Uniform, pick up after themselves in the cafeteria, etc.. Spirit Days are a privilege and not a right. Students can wear black or blue jeans (no holes, rips or tears and no sweatpants or leggings) with a Spirit Shirt to school on Spirit Days. In an effort to promote school spirit and have more students participate in our Spirit Days, we will be selling Spirit Shirts during lunches this week. Parents are welcome to purchase shirts as well. The cost of each shirt is $20 and payments can be made in cash only. Students who choose not to wear a Spirit Shirt with school appropriate jeans should wear their school uniform to school.
Parents Can Connect to Canvas- Get Access Today!!!!
Parents can connect to our new learning management system, Canvas. To access your student's Canvas account, you must first create an account and log in through a desktop or laptop device. Below is a tutorial link to help walk you through the process of gaining parental access. 💡Once connected, parents are able to view their student's courses. This will help you to view your student's course material and help them to meet deadlines.

Georgia Tech Research Institute's (GTRI) Application Now Open
The Georgia Tech Research Institute's (GTRI) pre-application for the 2025 High School Summer Internship Program is now open. As such, we would like to invite your eligible students and/or those from your network to apply for a paid opportunity to work alongside the best problem-solvers in the research and development enterprise. In addition to encouraging you to share this announcement with your students, we also want to make you aware of the program requirements. The most important requirement to keep in mind is that all high school students must complete a 2025 pre-application. Furthermore, please note:
- only students who complete a 2025 pre-application before the deadline will be eligible for an internship,
- no additional student(s) will be permitted to complete a pre-application once it closes, and
- the pre-application will close on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 11:59pm [Deadline].
The pre-application will be used to match the applicant with GTRI employment opportunities. Please note that completion of the pre-application is not a guarantee of employment. If any of your student(s) are selected following a successful phone-screen interview, they will receive a conditional employment offer and will be required to complete a full-application.
To be eligible for an internship, all prospective interns must:
- Show proof of citizenship or US person status (NISPOM 2-208, EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15)
- Note #1: Most, but not all, positions require US Citizenship because of the nature of the project or information to which the student may have access during the internship.
- Note #2: GTRI does not sponsor H1B visas
- Be a Georgia resident attending a public, private, charter or home school in Georgia.
- Be at least 16 years old before the deadline for completing the full application (Sunday, March 31, 2025 - No Exceptions).
- Be in the high school graduating class of 2025, 2026, or 2027.
- Have reliable transportation to assigned work location (Housing is not provided).
- Be able to work from Monday, June 9, 2025 to Friday, July 18, 2025, during Georgia Tech's regular business hours (M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).
- Note #3: Interns are not permitted to work on weekends or after hours.
- Attend an all-day STEM@GTRI orientation on Monday, June 9, 2025.
- Note #4: If you miss the orientation, your GTRI internship offer will be rescinded.
- Attend and participate in an all-day final presentation on Friday, July 18, 2025.
- Be available to work 24 hours/week for five weeks (more than 24 hr/wk will not be approved).
- Note #5: Interns are not allowed to work on weekends or after hours (work will only be permitted M-F 8am-5pm)
