Warrior Weekly

The mission of Waccamaw Middle School is to ensure that each Warrior is provided a strong, standards based academic foundation, diverse extra-curricular experiences, and opportunities to develop ownership and pride in order to create well-rounded lifelong learners in a safe and supported community.

Our English/Language Arts teachers have been hard at work inside and outside of the classroom. Each ELA classes scheduled time in the Media Center to explore the library. 7th graders went on a scavenger hunt with QR Codes to locate all sections of the library and important resources that are available for them to use, while 8th graders participated in a Kahoot review to test to their memory. Our ELA teachers and Media Specialist collaborate all during the year to enrich students' learning and foster a love of reading.

Mrs. Grate, Ms. Smalls, and Mrs. Henry are an integral part in keeping our school running. There's no task too big or too small for these ladies. They're always willing to help our students, teachers, and parents, and they do so with a smile on their face and love in their hearts. We are so lucky to have them as part of our Warrior Family!

WMS will take part in Georgetown County School District's Kidz in Lids program on August 29th. Students in all schools across the county will pay $1.00 to wear a school appropriate hat of their choosing for the day. All funds collected from this event will be donated to the Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.

The DHEC recommended student health screenings will be completed at WMS on 09/24/24 through science classes. We will check vision, hearing, and dental on all 7th graders and height, weight, and BMI on all 8th graders. If you want to opt out of the screenings, please write the nurse a note or e-mail her at pmcdill@gcsd.k12.sc.us.

Dental hygienists are working to schedule a day (TBD) to visit WMS to do exams, cleanings, x-rays, and sealants if needed. If you are interested, please scan the QR code below or download and complete the attached paperwork and return it to the nurse.
