Off to a GREAT Start!
It's been a dream to see children enter the building and be sooo excited to be here! Hisle has been a work in progress for me personally since November 2023, and it's happening! As we enter classrooms, it's great to see children engaged in learning names, figuring out class systems, and talking about how we are going to treat one another. It's so important to spend time building our class communities so learning can happen! We're figuring out arrival in the morning and dismissal and all the things in between...there is lots of laughter happening across the campus!
Speaking of learning, we will host "Curriciulum Nights" next week. This is an opportunity for families to come to Hisle to visit their child's classroom. The team of teachers or teacher will discuss the "how" the classroom functions along with the BIG learning that will happen for each grade in reading, writing, and math! Each teacher will discuss homework and communication too! Our goal is for each family to partner with us, and in order to partner, we want to build a shared understanding of learning that will occur at Hisle!
Communication is important and our goal is to send a weekly "Hisle Happenings" to give families dates for the campus. Each classroom teacher should be sending a weekly email with learning for the week on Mondays by 4 pm, and we will use "Friday Folders" to send flyers or work....please remember often students work in journals or experiential so there may not be a lot of paper coming home! We will offer times for students to share their work throughout the year...we want children reading and writing each day! Children will be bringing home books daily beginning after Labor Day...sometimes it will be a new book and sometimes a book to read "fluently". A BIG GOAL is we want all children reading!
Over the next few weeks, we will continue to learn one another. Please know that I am here to support each child and family. Remember, Hisle Hounds howl loud and proud!

Water, Watches, and MORE!
Recess and Water
Water bottles labelled with name (first and last) would be good too! Speaking of water bottles, we do have water bottle filling stations throughout the building so your child may bring a water bottle more suited to their smaller hands! Those 32 oz jugs can be too wide and bulky for our younger children!
Phones and Watches
Children can use their cell phone and/or watch as communication device when walking home or in case of an emergency. Please do not contact your child through his/her cell phone or watch. If there is an emergency, call the front office and we can support your family. This will allow learning to be uninterrrupted! Thanks for your support!
It's My Child's Birthday: Treats and Celebrations!
It's My Birthday!
Birthdays are the best! Our goal at Hisle is to celebrate each child on their special day in the classroom. Each classroom will celebrate with one of the following: a homemade card, reading a fun book as a class, or singing happy birthday! Families may opt to send individually bagged treats to send home. This allows the family the autonomy to decide if they wish for their child to have the treat at home. Once again, our goal at Hisle is that each child knows the world became a better place the day they were born!

Illness and Change of Clothes
LISD follows the Texas Department of Health Guidelines for illness-related exclusions from school. A student will be sent home if they have a fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit or above or any other contagious symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, etc.) and will need to remain home until symptom free for twenty-four (24) hours, without the use of medications. If it is determined that the child should go home, the staff will contact the parent/guardian, if parent/guardian cannot be reached a listed emergency contact will be contacted. When it is determined that the student must go home due to a non-emergent illness/injury, it is the expectation that the student be picked up within the hour of parent/guardian/emergency contact being contacted. If the doctor prescribes your child antibiotics, he/she must be on the antibiotic for 24 hours before to returning to school. These guidelines are followed to prevent the spread of illness to other students.
It is highly recommended that students keep a change of clothing in their backpack. Please make sure that clothing is labeled with your student’s name.
Volunteer Opportunities
LISD Clothes Closet
Leander ISD offers a "Clothes Closet" at two physical locations in our district to support children and families who may need help clothing their child. For each campus to be able to access the support, we are required to provide three volunteers five times a year to organize and sort clothes by size and type. If you would be willing to volunteer, please sign up at this site!
DISMISSAL TIPS AND ADJUSTMENTS
CAMPUS ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL MAP
RED/GREEN CARDS
Please remember to leave your red or green card in the front dash of the passenger side of the car. KEEP IT THERE until you have your child. This allows us to determine what cone we would like you to drive up to and load your child. We soooo appreciate your patience! At curriclum night, we will be handing out updated cards for you to use and keep in your car at all times.
FAST LANE NUMBERS
Fast Lane Numbers are AMAZING, but sometimes we have a few hiccups. PLEASE give it a few days for your number to work...if it doesn't work by Tuesday, email lindsey.waters@leanderisd org AND/OR niki.prindle@leanderisd.org. We ask that you refrain from coming to campus for this because sometimes the fix isn't immediate! Our goal is to print red/green cards for each family to pick up at curriclum nights scheduled the week of August 26th.
Curriculum Night EC-2nd Grade
We will offer two sessions 5:15-6:15 and 6:30-7:30 so families with more than one child can attend for each child. We ask that you locate child care since the content will be a presentation that your child will not want to sit for!
