Welcome back after a wonderful winter break! We hope your family delighted in the celebrations and joys of the holiday season. We wish each of you a happy and healthy 2024! Mark Your Calendar: Middle & High School Curriculum Fairs
Planning for the 2024-2025 academic year starts now. Families can gain first-hand information, speak to representatives from each subject area, and get a jump start on course selection and registration.

- High School Curriculum Fair: January 11, 5:30 - 7:30 PM at Warhill High School
WJCC Schools Hosts Job Fair January 25 at Lafayette High School 3 – 7 PM
WJCC Schools is hosting a job fair on Thursday, January 25, to fill immediate and 2024-2025 school year job openings. Applicants can apply in advance of the job fair on the division’s website or during the event. Onsite interviews will be conducted, and conditional job offers could be made to qualified candidates. Consider referring a friend who would make a great addition to our WJCC Schools family.
Register Now: “Supporting Your Emerging Musician” Webinar January 17 at 6 PM
This Family Academy topic will assist and empower families to play an active role in developing their students' musical interests at home. We will present active listening questions and prompts, best practices for developing practice routines with busy schedules, and inquiry-based learning methods that can transform practice habits for the developing musician.
Governor’s School for Science and Technology – Accepting Applications Now
The Governor’s School for Science and Technology (GSST) is a regional school dedicated to teaching innovative math and science curriculum to serve students who are talented in math and science. Applications are now being accepted for interested 10th graders. Students apply online here in February. Apply Now to Governor’s School Pre-Admissions Series (8th and 9th Graders)
The Pre-Admissions Series Program (PAS) is an informational program for high-achieving 8th and 9th graders who are seriously considering attending the Governor’s School for Science and Technology. Access the application by signing up for the PAS series monthly newsletter distributed electronically to prospective GSST parents and students on how students can prepare themselves in 9th and 10th grade to potentially gain acceptance to and achieve success at both GSST and a competitive college. Bake Sourdough Bread with SHIP Chefs! Middle School Students Only!
Students in 6th - 8th grades are invited to sign up to receive a SHIP Chefs kit with everything needed to bake whole grain sourdough bread. Learn about the microbes that make sourdough starter grow and follow along with bread-making videos from LOKAL Bread! Share pictures at #wjccshipchefs to be entered in a prize drawing! Kits go home with students Tuesday, January 23. Sign-up opens Friday, January 5. Only 50 kits are available so sign up early (one kit per household).

Challenge Clubs in 2024
Watch for SHIP Challenge Club forms from your child’s school! Challenge Clubs are for students in third through eighth grades and are a great way to foster interests and relationships outside of the classroom.
SHIP Clubs meet the weeks of February 26 through April 15. Stay tuned for participation forms from your school in the coming weeks!
