Grandparents Day 2022
Catholic Schools Week 2022
Faith. Excellence. Service
Dear Jaguar Families,
As we all sit and anticipate the possible snowstorm, many of us are just as excited for Grandparents Day this Friday, February 4th. We are expecting a VERY large crowd. Please read the following information very carefully to help our event run smoothly.
Grandparents and Special Guests are welcome to join us for 9:30am mass.
Please remind all Grandparents/Special Guests that we are a fully masked community. Masks should be worn at mass and when visiting the school at all times.
Families may sit together, we are asking that you sit with the youngest student’s class. All classes will be spread out around the church, arranged in order from kindergarten to eighth grade. If you are looking at the altar from the gathering space, the kindergarten will be on the left, or East, near the wall to the left of the altar. The eighth grade will be on the right, or West, near the wall to the right of the altar. You will sit with your grandchild in the youngest grade, and any older grandchildren you have in the school will join you and the youngest grandchild.
There will be older students and teachers helping to usher Grandparents and Special Guests to their seats starting at 9:00am. Please remember we have 8:15am mass, Grandparents and Special Guests won’t be able to enter church before 9:00am. Also, parking could be tight, please remind Guests that parking in the Central Lot is a good idea if they plan to visit the school after mass. Guests are encouraged to be seated by 9:20am. Students will begin filling the church at 9:20am. K - 2 students will be seated first, third grade to follow and so on. Remember to tell guests to sit with the youngest student in your family. Remember to tell all siblings which grade level they should sit with.
Students are allowed to leave directly after mass with their Grandparents or Special Guests if their teacher is notified by email BEFORE Friday morning. Teachers will bring a list to mass, your child's name must be on their list prior to mass in order to leave from the church.
If Grandparents/Special Guests plan to visit classrooms after mass they are allowed to leave as soon as they are done, but it must be before 11:40am. Adult guests may sign out student(s) in their classroom with their teacher(s). Our official dismissal time is 12:00pm and in order to get parking lots cleared and allow for new cars to enter, no one will be allowed to check students out between 11:40am - 12:00pm.
Don’t forget to have lunch at the Shawnee Fritz’s after school. All proceeds support St. Joseph School!!!
Thanks for sharing this information with your Grandparents and Special Guests. If we all work together we will have a smooth, enjoyable day. Hopefully cookies, coffee and lemonade can return next year!!! Stay warm!
With a grateful heart,
Jodie Maddox, Principal
