GMS Spirit Groups

Our GCISD Athletic Department recently advised us that all cheerleaders will need to fill out UIL paperwork required for other athletes in our district. To be clear, this is in addition to the paperwork you filled out for cheer when your student tried out.

Thanksgiving break is a great time to wind down and recuperate from the first several months of the school year. We want to encourage our team to take some downtime for themselves and enjoy themselves. But, they do need to keep up either skills and conditioning.

We will try to help with this by providing a Thanksgiving break workout plan that will shared with the team via Group Me and with the parents in next week's newsletter.

While we will not make this workout plan mandatory, the coaches will be participating as well and our team will encourage and hold each other accountable through our team Group Me. The workout is HIGHLY recommended because if they do not workout for a week, the first practice back after the break is ROUGH. Trust us. It's not pretty!

The team is looking good! They are so supportive, flexible and encouraging to each other. We know this is going to be an amazing competition season for them!

Team Fee

The team fee for the competition team is $185 and was due to be paid to GMS Cheer by November 1. If you have not paid this fee, please do so ASAP so we can register the team for NCA.

This fee goes directly to our NCA competition entry fee and payment for our choreographer. Note: Girls who were members of the 2018-2019 competition team have a $100 credit towards their team fee for this season because we were unable to compete last year. As a result, their total team fee for this season is $85.

NOTE - We will not have comp team practice tomorrow, November 11th! We will have practice on Thursday, November 14. 8th Graders who are in basketball will come after their basketball practice is over.

Choreography - NEW!!!

The girls still have a lot to learn. Our next choreography date will be November 15. As you may have noticed, our choreographer tends to run over the allotted time. So, we are going to extend the regular practice time on the 15th to 7:00 to give you a better idea of when we will be finished for the evening.

Comp Team Social - NEW!!!

The team has requested that hold the comp team social on the evening of November 15 after practice. They would like to go to dinner together. We are exploring affordable options for the team and will follow up with the comp team families tomorrow with more info.

Team T-Shirts

The girls would like to order a team t-shirt and have approved a design. It's a red, long-sleeved Comfort Colors shirt and is included below. All t-shirt orders and money must be received by November 8 so the order can be placed as soon as possible. The price for the shirts is:
