Course Registration
The priority deadline for students to make changes is May 1. Course requests can be viewed by logging in to the Aeries student portal. The counseling office will continue to accept Course Change Forms on a space availability basis through the last day of school. Forms are available in the counseling office or in the link below and must be signed by a parent/guardian.
Final schedules for the upcoming academic year will be finalized at the close of the current school year. Please note that course change requests during the fall term will only be reviewed in instances of error or with a recommendation from a teacher/counselor due to misplacement.
Please remember that we are unable to fulfill requests for specific teachers or requests for specific class periods. Thank you for your understanding.

Final Exam Schedule
Final exam schedule for semester 2 of the 2023-24 school year:
Report Cards and Final Transcripts
- The last day of school is on June 6th.
- Final report cards will be accessible on Aeries within a week following this date.
- To request transcripts other than final transcript for college, please visit the SISS office of Mr. Reda Hanna or follow the instructions on the website.
- Note: Collegebound seniors must adhere to specific guidelines outlined below for transcript requests
FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS FOR COLLEGEBOUND SENIORS:
Marking a college as "enrolling" in Scoir is the final transcript request for college. Seniors can mark only one college as enrolling. There is no fee to send a final transcript to college via Scoir!
If you have taken classes at any other schools, including college classes, online classes, or any institution other than LCHS, you must contact that institution and request that they send your transcripts to your college of choice (even if the class appears on your LCHS transcript).
If you change your mind about where you plan to enroll:
- You must change your enrolling college in Scoir AND you must contact LCHS
- Before graduation, contact your counselor. After graduation, contact LCHS Administration and Mr. Hanna. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the transcript is sent to the correct college
- Final transcripts are typically due around July 1
- Check Scoir and college portal to ensure transcript was processed
Summer School
Students may continue to sign up for summer school courses as needed (for advancement or to make-up a D or F grade). Remember, LCHS summer school does not require pre-approval, but all other programs do. If you take a summer course at LCHS, your grade will automatically be added to your LCHS transcript. If you take a course anywhere other than LCHS, follow these instructions for sending records:
- Order an official transcript from your institution immediately upon completion of the course.
- Send your official transcript electronically to Mr. Hanna (not to your counselor). Mr. Hanna manages our System Information and Student Records. If electronic delivery is not available, send an official, sealed copy to Mr. Hanna or bring it in unopened and drop it off at his office.
- Mr. Hanna’s contact information is rhanna@lcusd.net or he can be reached at (818) 952-4251.
- This information should be received prior to the start of the school year.

SAT vs. ACT
In some institutions, the requirement for college entrance exams is making a comeback, so it is a good idea to make sure you are ready. Colleges do not have a preference between the SAT or ACT. Both the SAT and ACT websites offer free test preparation resources. The SAT has transitioned to a digital format and employs a "computer adaptive" approach, tailoring question difficulty based on your responses. While individual students may perform better on one exam over the other, there are no intrinsic differences in difficulty level between the two tests. Variances are more evident in the test structures, with the ACT containing a science section. It is recommended to take the SAT/ACT toward the end of junior year or early fall of senior year. Students aiming for colleges with early deadlines should aim to complete testing by October. For those with later deadlines, testing can be done through November and potentially December.
Despite these considerations, numerous colleges have adopted a test-optional policy. California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses have implemented a test-blind stance.
Keep Track of What You Do Using Scoir!
Are you working, doing any volunteer and/or community service hours this Summer? If so, please make sure you are keeping track of these hours. One way you can do this is by adding this information into your SCOIR account. Service hours aren't required for graduation but there are many benefits to tracking your hours in Scoir. It will help you when you begin filling out college apps, scholarship apps, or anything else that asks you to enter your hours. Adding a short reflection about your experience may also be helpful. Think about what you learned, how you grew as a person, successes or failures with the activity, names of supervisors or people who made an impact...all of this may help when it comes time to write college essays or fill out job applications in the future.
Please log in to your account and add to your activities and achievements section of your profile.
