HILLSIDE, IL – Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is thrilled to announce that the recently proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Illinois state budget includes a $40 million grant designated for the construction of a new, modern sports complex at Proviso West High School. We are looking forward to formal approval of these funds when the governor signs the budget in the near future.

This major investment will provide a transformative, top-tier facility designed to support student athletics, community engagement, and regional events. The complex will feature advanced outdoor athletic spaces, and multi-use event venues that can serve both school and community programming.

“We are excited to bring this incredible facility to our students and our community,” said Superintendent Krish Mohip. “This sports complex will be more than a place for athletics. It will be a place for community, for growth, and for opportunity. We’re proud to create a space that reflects the pride and potential of Proviso. This is not just a win for our district, but for the entire Proviso Township and surrounding areas.”

Beyond enhancing athletic programs, the new complex is expected to stimulate the local economy by creating opportunities for area businesses, contractors, and vendors during both construction and ongoing operations.

District 209 is also committed to including the voices of the community throughout the development process. There will be opportunities for residents, students, families, and local organizations to provide input on the design, features, and long-term usage of the facility through upcoming public meetings, surveys, and planning sessions.

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our district, and we’re grateful the State of Illinois believes in the power of our schools and our students,” Mr. Mohip added.
