Parent-Teacher Conferences
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, our El Sereno Middle School & Magnet Center families are invited to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences. The event will be in-person and take place from 5 to 7 P.M. at school. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher(s) to discuss his/her academic grades/progress, attendance, work habits, and cooperation in their 10th-week progress report.
The progress report cards will be distributed on the same day during 7th period. Students will bring progress report cards home to share with you. After receiving the progress report card, you are encouraged to bring it and visit teachers where your child demonstrates insignificant progress.
You can also access your child’s grades on Parent Portal at https://passportapp.lausd.net/parentaccess, however, a valid email address is necessary. For assistance, contact the Title I Office or you are welcome to stop by the Counseling Office on the evening of the event to meet your child’s counselor and obtain a program.
In addition, we are hosting a High School Fair from 4 to 5 P.M. that evening for parents/guardians of 8th-grade students to learn about the different high schools in the area and help you make an informed decision when applying for Zone of Choice.
We look forward to seeing you all here. Parking will be available off the Gambier Street gate entrance by 4 P.M. Students are asked to accompany their parents. Click on the QR code below for the maps of the school. For more information about upcoming events, please visit our website: www.elserenoms.org.
Attentively,

What is iReady?
i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s opportunities for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year.
i-Ready is designed to complement what is being taught in the classroom. Your student’s teacher will have information from the Diagnostic that shows where some extra review would be beneficial, which will help the teacher provide the best possible support. Your student will also work on online lessons that bolster the areas of greatest need. Your student’s teacher can see which lessons have been completed and offer help any time your student needs extra support.
