Oceanside High School Weekly Update

The Pirate Way
We are thrilled to kick off Homecoming weekend! This is a time for our community to come together and celebrate our Pirate pride with a full lineup of activities, including the big game, spirit-filled events, and our Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. We’re excited to see everyone showing off their school spirit and joining in the fun. Let’s make this Homecoming one to remember!
As we enjoy the festivities, we also want to remind you of an important event starting this Sunday: our WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation visit. This visit is a critical moment for Oceanside High, and we are eager to showcase all the amazing work happening on our campus. The WASC process allows us to reflect on our growth and improvements. Over the past few years, we’ve worked hard to create a learning environment that truly supports student success. From new programs and resources that prioritize student wellness to innovative ways we’re closing achievement gaps, our school has made many positive changes. We’re excited to share these efforts with our WASC visitors and demonstrate the pride, commitment, and dedication that makes Oceanside High special. This is our chance to show how much we value our students' success and the steps we've taken to ensure they have the tools, support, and environment they need to thrive.
We appreciate your continued support and involvement, and we hope you enjoy Homecoming weekend! Don’t forget to cap off the weekend by attending our Homecoming Dance on Saturday night and then help us welcome the WASC team on Sunday. If you are interested in coming to the WASC Meet and Greet, email me for more information.

Girls Golf upsets No. 4 CCA
The Oceanside girls golf team proved that 20 is greater than 4 in more than just math.
The Pirates, ranked 20th in the county, shocked No. 4 Canyon Crest with a 232-234 Coastal League win at the Oceanside Municipal Golf Course Monday afternoon.
With the victory, OHS is 4-1 in league and 11-2 overall.
Kassidy Stevens was the low scorer for OHS with a 41. Leila Kai Hernandez (46) and Vinnie Dvorak (47) were the other low scorers.
Guillen breaks the course record at Chaffey Invite
Malia Guillen continued to be the leader of the pack as the junior broke the course record in winning the Chaffey Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
Guillen chased the early leader for the first mile and then ran away and hid en route to a first-place time of 18:07.5, which broke the meet record by nearly five seconds and was the fastest time of the day in the grade-level event. Caleigha Kelly finished in the top five with a personal best time of 20:00.7, which is more than a minute improvement.
The 3-mile on campus course included grass, sidewalks and ended in the Chaffey High School stadium to the liking of senior Alexis Torres in the boys senior race. Torres measured his pace and creeped from the top 20 runners into the top 10 with a personal best time of 16:05.7, which is a 23-second improvement.
Other medalists, who all ran personal best times, were Buddy Espinoza,(17:42) Joashua Silva (17:19), Isaiah Hastings (17:37), Addison Ashby (20:19.9), Kori Perry (20:47), Maya Hernandez (21:34.3), Aubrie Johnson (21:37.7)
OHS PTSO
We are in urgent need of parents to step into Board Positions for next year. Please contact us if you are interested. PTSO is volunteer run and needs new parents to step in as others "graduate". Our organization fills a lot of gaps in our community to support clubs, CTE pathways, students and our amazing teachers and staff.
For those new to OHS, PTSO includes Parents, Teachers and Students to support the school community. Some of our goals are to promote parent interaction, support the faculty and staff and promote student achievement. Each year is a bit different so we welcome your ideas on ways we can support the school. The donations we receive and the funds we raise go toward staff appreciation events, teacher and club grants, student events, and more. We work closely with our principal Mrs.Garrahy, the administrators and counseling team to be responsive to current needs. All members have a vote in how our funds are used and we have a few openings for leadership positions if you want to give some time.
If you would like to join us or renew your membership for the year, please fill out the form here: OHS PTSO Form . If you are interested in volunteering or serving on the board, please indicate that on the form.
Whether you participate in meetings or not, you can support our efforts with a tax-deductible donation. Please go here: PTSO Donation Page (Paypal or CC) or use our new venmo @osideptso. And please join us for our restaurant nights throughout the year.
We typically meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Stay connected with us by joining our Facebook group @Oceanside High School PTSO Parents for Pirates or following us on Instagram @piratesptso. We also encourage you to choose Oceanside High School PTSO as your designated charity in your AmazonSmile account. https://smile.amazon.com/ch/77-0684642
