Principals Message
We had a really good week in our Eagle Nation.
Everyone did an outstanding job supporting each other in a way that promoted unity, respect, and understanding. That inclusive environment promotes a respectful community focused on learning, and this is what makes our Eagle Nation a great place to be. So, thank you, Eagles.
As part of this, next week, November 12-15th is CHS Unity Week, where our CHS Student Leadership is planning different spirit dress days and having different fun lunch activities around continuing to build unity and belonging for everyone in our Eagle Nation. So make sure to show your school spirit and join it. It should be a fun week. Some of the activities include:
Tue (11/12) - Orange Out Spirit Dress Day (Orange is the recognized color of Unity Weeks).
Tue (11/12) - Unity Lunch Activities: Unity Leaf Tree and Paper Chains
Wed (11/13) PJ Spirit Dress Day
Wed (11/13) Unity Lunch Activities: Unity Leaf Tree and Paper Chains
Thurs (11/14) - Culture/Country Spirit Dress Day
Thurs (11/14) - Unity Leaf Tree and Paper Chains, Face Painting for Culture/Country
Fri (11/15) Eagle OutSpirit Dress Day

Our volleyball team fought hard but lost four sets against Corvallis on Saturday in the first round of the State Playoffs. It was a great game, and our Volleyball team did an outstanding job representing our Eagle Nation.
Our CHS Boys' Soccer team had an outstanding 3-0 win against Corvallis during their OSAA 1st Round State Play-off on Tuesday at Corvallis. They will compete in the OSAA Quarterfinals State Play-off game today, Saturday, November 9th, against Summit High School at 1 p.m. in Bend. So, Come cheer on our Eagles!
Congratulations to the student-athletes, coaches, and everyone who supported our Eagles Fall Sports. Many of your students have also been recognized for their outstanding performance by the Northwest Oregon Conference and have been awarded first-team, second-team, and honorable mention (See below). Congratulations to Katie Brewer, NWOC Player of the Year, and Coach Wohlers for being selected as NWOC Coach of the Year! It was a great season, thanks to all of you. Way to go, Eagle!
Everyone is invited to the CHS Eagle Expo on Thursday, November 14th, at 5:30 PM to see and give feedback to our Seniors as they present their 5-year Plans. This is part of their graduation requirements and helps prepare them for life after high school. Your feedback is important to them, so everyone in our Centennial Community is invited. There will be free food, and it will be a lot of fun. So, we hope to see you there.
Winter Sports Session Begins, November 18th. Remember, tryouts for our Winter Sports session begin Monday, November 18th. It is a great time to participate in many different sports and activities. Make sure you have your Athletic paperwork in and show your school spirit, have some fun, make new friends, and try out for a winter sport on Monday.
Finally, remember that there are only two and a half weeks until the end of trimester 1 on November 26th. Check your grades and work with your teachers to make up any work that needs to be completed or raise your grade. As additional support for you, starting Thursday, November 14th, we will offer tutoring support for any subject during lunches on Mondays and Thursdays. So, you can get tutoring from peer tutors, adult tutors, after-school tutors (M-Th), Before School (W), and during lunches (M/Th) for the rest of the year (See the Flier below).
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

Inclement Weather - Be Ready!
With the colder winter months just around the corner, we want to remind families and staff of the procedures used by our District when inclement weather occurs.
The Centennial School District maintains a preparedness plan for the monitoring of inclement weather and potential weather-related impacts on school operations, including our facilities and road safety for transportation. As these impacts are evaluated, there may be changes to the school schedule, such as a school closure, a delayed start to the school day, or an early dismissal. Snow routes for our school buses will also be used when road conditions are deemed unsafe by our Transportation Department staff.
When inclement weather causes changes such as these, we will notify our staff and families using multiple methods:
- ParentSquare messaging (text, email, app notifications, and/or voicemail). If you need assistance registering for the ParentSquare app, please contact your school office.
- Centennial School District website: www.csd28j.org
- Social Media (Facebook: CentennialSD28j / Instagram: centennial_schools)
- Flash Alert notifies local news stations. Individuals can subscribe to receive FlashAlert updates for Centennial School District here: http://www.flashalert.net/id/centennialsd
Parents/caregivers, if your email address or phone number has changed in the last year, please contact your school office to ensure we have your up-to-date contact information.
