Grade 9 English Provincial Achievement Test Monday May 13
A reminder to all of our families that Monday, May 13th is the day that all of our grade 9s will be writing their Provincial Achievement Tests; we would appreciate all students arriving on time Monday morning to minimize disruptions, and we need all students to listen to the Monday morning announcements attentively and to abide by the modified school rules.
On behalf of our grade 9 writers, thank you so much for providing a quiet place to complete our first PAT of 2024.
Grade 9 parents and guardians: please be advised that a google form is being sent this afternoon to all Grade 9 families regarding student intentions for the time immediately following their finishing of the PAT examination.
To our grade 9 students: you have worked hard all year honing your writing and thinking skills--now is your time to impress us all with your thoughtful ideas and considered authorial moves. The best of luck to you all!
Bev Facey School Council Meeting
Hello Future Bev Facey Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to tomorrow’s Bev Facey School Council meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. At the May meeting we typically welcome and invite our parents of our incoming Grade 10 students for next year and run our annual AGM to set up our Council members for next year.
Our school council is an excellent source of support for our school and provides our admin team and school board with input vital to our educational community's success. At each meeting, attendees can hear reports from the school board trustee, student representatives, an Alberta school's council association representative, and the school administration.
We are planning on offering a “Hybrid” model for Tuesday's meeting. For those who wish to meet “in person” we will be meeting in the Bev Facey Library. We will however offer a virtual connection to the meetings proceedings as well if you would rather attend online.
Mr. Wlos
Principal

School Council Thank You!
We held out last School Council meeting of the school year this past Wednesday. We are so lucky to have such an incredible group of parents supporting F.R. Haythorne, engaging in conversations with us, sharing ideas, and contributing to an incredible partnership between home and school.
We will be holding our AGM on September 18, 2024 at 6 p.m. in our school library; you don't want to miss it! Tell your friends!
Door Locking Procedures
Please be aware that the front doors at F.R. Haythorne will now be locked during the day. We have a video doorbell system to control building access. If you come to the school and the doors are locked, you will be welcomed into the office through the front doors after ringing the video doorbell.

Students Leaving School at Lunch
A reminder that our school is a closed campus. This means that only students who have permission to go home for lunch are allowed to leave school grounds; we manage this this permission through the office. Thank you in advance for having a conversation about this with your children.

Has your contact information recently changed?
Have you recently moved or has your contact information changed? F.R. Haythorne Junior High encourages families to review the information the Division has on file to ensure it’s up to date. Using the Student Information Update available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, families can review the current information on file for each student—including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, parent and guardian information, emergency contacts, medical details and other related information—and submit any updates needed.
Reviewing and updating the form ensures the school and Division have the most up-to-date information regarding your child. Your review is especially important as the Division prepares for 2024-25 registration processes beginning in the new year.
NOTE: Only submit updates for the changes that have already taken place. If you’re moving later this school year, you’ll submit the necessary updates to your information through the Student Information Update after you’ve moved.
If you have questions about the form or any trouble with your Parent Portal account, contact the school office at 780-467-3800.
