Career Ready Practices
At Legacy High School, Career Ready Practices (CRPs) play a vital role in preparing students for success beyond the classroom. By integrating essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and responsibility into daily instruction, we ensure that students are not only mastering academic content but also developing the competencies needed to thrive in their future careers. Aligned with Bismarck Public Schools' strategic plan, CRPs bridge the gap between education and the workforce, reinforcing the value of real-world applications. Through collaboration with business and industry leaders, we are committed to equipping students with the tools they need to be workforce-ready.
Beginning this second semester, CRPs will be piloted across all courses as we take steps to better prepare students for life beyond high school. This implementation will be embedded within classroom activities across all subjects, ensuring a well-rounded approach to learning. Teachers will provide direct instruction, feedback, and opportunities for students to demonstrate these skills in authentic settings. Assessment of CRPs will vary by subject, with progress monitored through rubrics, teacher evaluations, and PowerSchool tracking. Additionally, parents are encouraged to support CRP development by promoting goal-setting, volunteering, and other engagement activities. Through this pilot program, Legacy High School is committed to refining our approach and ensuring that every student graduates with the skills necessary for success in college, careers, and beyond.
Youth Risk Behavior Survey
Our high school is taking part in the 2025 North Dakota Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and the 2025 North Dakota Youth Tobacco Survey (YTS) sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and Department of Health. The YRBS survey will ask about nutrition, physical activity, injuries, tobacco, alcohol, other drug use, sexual behavior and school climate. The content of the YTS survey includes tobacco questions related to: prevalence (electronic vapor products, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, cigars, and pipes); knowledge and attitudes; cessation; environmental tobacco smoke; media and advertising; minors' access; and school curriculum. Copies of the questionnaires are available in the school office for your review.
Between 30%-50% of LHS students in grades 9-12 will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that takes about 45 minutes to complete. Doing this survey will cause no risk to students. The survey has been designed to protect student privacy. No student or class will ever be mentioned by name in a report of the results. The results of the survey will help establish trends over time that can be utilized in school planning and curriculum development.
We would like all selected students to take part in the survey, but the survey is voluntary. No action will be taken against the school, you, or your child, if your child does not take part. Students can skip any question they do not wish to answer. In addition, students may stop participating in the survey at any point without penalty.
Our school has been asked to administer the survey between Feb 18 and March 3, 2005.
The survey will be available in the front office for you to preview if you desire. At this time, if you decide you do not want your child to take part in the survey, we will have you sign the appropriate form.
