60 Seconds with the Superintendent
Thank you to the Strongsville Education Foundation for continuing to fund field trips for students in our District. This year, our students enjoyed a combination of guest visitors in their classrooms, as well as “virtual” field trips. CHICK-FIL-A REMARKABLE FUTURES SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO 4 STRONGSVILLE STUDENTS
Chick-fil-A recently announced their “Remarkable Futures” Scholarships to high school seniors and current college students. Strongsville had four students earn these scholarships, which recognize individuals who possess strong leadership skills, demonstrate a commitment to academic achievement, and have a desire to make a positive impact on their communities. Congratulations to the following Mustangs:
Andrew Beten (SHS Senior) - Andrew recently started at Chick-fil-A in the Summer of 2021 and had one of the best first days of any team member that we've had. He is a great communicator and he is always willing to help a team member that's working next to him.
Riley Burkett (SHS Senior) - Riley has been with us since the fall of 2019 and worked her way up to captain in spring of 2021, as well as coordinator in spring of 2022. Riley was a steady force for us through the pandemic and always brought in a great attitude and the drive to get things done. Riley has some of the best guest connections and is always looking for ways to make things better.
Hailie McVay (SHS Class of 2021) - Hailie has been with us since the fall of 2019 and helped to lead us through the pandemic. Hailie was promoted to a captain in the fall of 2020 and quickly worked her way up to a coordinator by the summer of 2021. Hailie has always been a hard worker and makes every new team member feel welcomed on their first day.
Andrew Holbert (SHS Class of 2020) - While Andrew was with us he was one of our best team members. Each day he brought an infectious high energy to work and served our guests with speed and accuracy. Once Andrew went to college in Columbus he transferred stores where he continues to be a fantastic team member for Chick-fil-A.
SPD OFFICER BRYAN & K9 OFFICER CHASE VISIT STRONGSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Thanks to Strongsville Police Department Officer Bryan and K-9 Officer Chase for spending time with some of our Strongsville High School students this week. Officer Bryan answered questions and Chase demonstrated his great search and find abilities for the students. We appreciate our partnership with the SPD and their willingness to continue to connect with our students!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MS. ALLYSE BIALOSKY, FIRST GRADE TEACHER AT SURRARRER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Ms. Allyse Bialosky has spent three years teaching at Surrarrer Elementary. “Ms. B” currently teaches first grade. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Mount Union and is nearly finished with her graduate degree from Bowling Green State University. When she is not in the classroom, Ms. Bialosky can be seen at Progressive Field tossing t-shirts in the stands and working with Slider and the hot dog mascots (“I love seeing students and their families at games!”)
“Strongsville is a great community, and it continues to be very evident every day in the families and students who come through our doors. I have never been surrounded by more helpful, resilient, and loving students than I have here in Strongsville. It does not stop with the students, as we have immense support from families - and that makes a huge difference! With the support from families, I have been able to create lifelong learning and memories for my students,” said Ms. Bialosky.

“ROCKIN’ ON SMS FIELD” DANCE (FRI. 5/27)
The last “Rockin’ at SMS” dance of the school year will take place on the SMS Football Field from 6:00pm - 8:30pm on Friday, May 27th. The theme of the dance is “Wear your favorite sports jersey or T-shirt.” This dance is open to any 5th-8th grade student that lives in Strongsville. Students should enter and exit by the bleachers. Some rules for this dance: no backpacks, no heels of any kinds/flats or tennis shoes ONLY, no gum. There will be concessions available. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online. There will also be a minimal amount of tickets available at the door.

"Crossroads of the Nation: Strongsville's Development Boom from Horses to Highways"
Join the Strongsville Historical Society and history student, Jamie Miles, for a special presentation on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 7:00pm at the Strongsville Old Town Hall (18825 Royalton Rd.). Strongsville is widely known for its identity as a bustling, business-centric community. Today, only small pockets of evidence survive showing its origins as the small farming township that it remained into the mid-20th century. Ever wonder how this rapid transformation took place? This presentation will explore the impact that advances in transportation have had on the city, its landscape, and its built environment. This is a free program open to the public. Attention cheerleaders, dancers, and gymnasts - Looking for SFL Cheer Captains!
The Strongsville Football League is hiring cheer captains for the 2022 football season. We are looking for high school cheerleaders, dancers, or gymnasts with cheer experience to teach cheerleading to kids in grades K through 6. This is not just a part-time seasonal job but it is an excellent opportunity to build leadership skills which are necessary to gain acceptance into many honor societies and colleges. And, for those who may be considering a future career working with children, this is a great way to test the waters. The captains will create and teach cheers, chants, a dance; attend practices and games, and create an inclusive environment of fun for ALL! Captains will now earn $10 per hour, and those who apply by May 15th and are selected for the 2022 season, will receive a special bonus gift in their first paycheck! Interviews will begin in June. Arts in Strongsville ‘Spring Fling’ Fundraiser
The inaugural Arts in Strongsville ‘Spring Fling’ fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 14th at Harvest Saloon from 5pm – 8pm. Join us for an evening of food, drinks, friends, and fun! English as a Second Language. Computer Classes Cuyahoga County Public Library offers computer classes for beginners to advanced. Classes are currently being held in-person as well as some VIRTUALLY which requires a web browser and an internet connection. There is no additional software to download. Google Chrome is the recommended browser. A valid email address is required for registration. Registrants will receive an email with a link to join the class at least an hour before the start time. Sewing Basics for Teens and Tweens. Grades 5 – 12. Monday, May 23rd / 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. IN-PERSON. Learn basic sewing skills and make your own sunglasses case. Participants will learn to identify machine components, thread a needle and will have the opportunity to experiment with different stitch styles. Women in Jazz with Hip to That. Tuesday, May 24th / 7:00 p.m. IN PERSON. Join the Hip to That trio for an immersive concert experience featuring jazz music performed and/or written by women. The band will not only perform the music but discuss the impact these women made on the genre and characteristics of their performances and work. Space is limited to allow for social distancing.
