Palmetto Boys State
Junior Boys! American Legion's Palmetto Boys State will take place June 9-15 at
Anderson University! The American Legion’s Boys State program is a unique
way for young men to learn about the American system of government and politics
by participating in a mock governmental system. They call it a “Laboratory of
Government” because during the week, each young man will have the opportunity
to run for and be elected to mock offices ranging from city level (e.g. city
council, mayor) to state constitutional offices (e.g. lieutenant governor and
governor).
This is a great way to start your
summer! It's a lot of fun and can boost your college applications come next
Fall. See links below for the website and flyer. Applications are available for pick up in the school counseling office and are due by February 29th to Ms. McCormick. Please read up on the program prior to applying. You are welcome to type
your short answer responses on a separate page.
Because American Legion only allows 3 delegates to go each year, we will have a committee review the applications. The committee will not be able to see applicant names so the selection is as fair as possible!
