MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Good Day All,
I’m writing to you all on the tail of the most exciting day of my principalship so far! I’m sure you all saw the message during the week that there was a small contained fire on Wednesday afternoon which was immediately followed by the Hispanic Heritage Celebration. Both events were memorable! Thank you to Victor Romo and Angela Harkness for being the primary organizers of our community event. There were lots of staff and community volunteers that contributed to the success! Thank you to our food donations from Taco del Sol, La Fuente and Gorilla Cakes! We welcomed over 300 people into our school to celebrate Hispanic Heritage with food, performances, music and fun.
Bus transportation issues are persisting and we really appreciate your patience as we are trying to be as communicative as possible with information when we receive it. Please be aware that the company we use to coordinate bus transportation, STA, is short bus drivers which is leading to late pick ups and drop offs. If there are issues that you would like to report directly to STA, please use this form. Please note, this form is not for immediate inquiries.
We are looking forward to opening our doors for Family Partnership Days (conferences) on Wednesday evening and Thursday. Conferences will be held in an arena style format and they are first come, first served. Please see below for specific times and details. Hoping to have a wonderful week of academics and connections.

HAPPENINGS
Affinity Groups begin this week! Affinity groups provide opportunities for people to connect with other people who share aspects of their identity, especially in situations in which aspects of their identity are in the minority or are marginalized.
Here are the groups we are offering.BSU, Black Student Union

If your student would like to sign up, they can pick up a form in the main office, or print this one. Click here for more information. There ARE buses available to take students home, if they normally ride a bus. Please look at the Activity Routes here, and help your student figure out which route will work best for them.
We only have one ASA Jamboree this week:
Even though there is no school on Thursday, the Cross Country end of season Championship meet is in Wilsonville at Memorial Park. Parents of Cross Country participants, please watch your email for communication from the coaches with specific instructions.
Fowler’s Family Partnership Conferences will be held Arena Style at the following times:
Wednesday, October 23, 4:30-7:15pm
Thursday, October 24, 8:00am-11:15am
Thursday, October 24, 12:30-3:15pm
Thursday, October 24, 4:30-7:15pm
At Arena style Family Partnership Conferences you will find 6th grade teachers available in the Commons, while 7th and 8th grade teachers, as well as most elective teachers, will be set up in the Gym. There are a few exceptions which will be posted in the Commons. Teacher spaces will be labeled with signs to assist you in locating those you wish to see. We do encourage students to attend with their parents/guardians, but it is not required. We also recommend that you bring a list of your child’s teachers so that you know who to visit.
Arena style conferences are first come, first serve. We do ask that you limit your conversations to no longer than 10 minutes so that all families have the same opportunity to meet with teachers. If you find that you need more time, please set up a separate meeting time with the teacher.
Did you miss picture day or want to take a new picture? Retake day is quickly approaching. If we did not see you on picture day or you would like a new image, Dorian Studio will be taking pictures at your school again soon. Do not miss out on ordering pictures of your student. Orders may be placed online by searching for your school name at mydorian.com and selecting the green Order button next to your school retake day event. Online orders are available up to 2 days after retake day. If you already ordered and want a new picture taken, please be sure to return your original picture packet to the photographer on retake day.
