Weekly Reminders
Week 2 Term 1 - Week Commencing Monday 6th February 2023
Dear Families
Thank you
Thank you so much to all in our wonderful community for the smooth start to the 2023 school year. It was great to see so many smiling faces on the first day of school on Wednesday. Thank you to all the parents that also attended the parent information sessions in the evening.
Welcome Mass
On Wednesday 8th February at 9am, we will join together for a Community Mass to celebrate the start of the new school year. If any parents would like to join us in this celebration, please feel free.
School Fee Statements
School Fee Statements will be emailed to families next week. If you have a new Health Care Card this needs to be sighted and a new form completed as soon as possible.
Annual Community Meeting
The Annual Community Meeting will be held at 5pm on Wednesday 22nd February in the Learning Hub. There will be more details in the Weekly Reminders next week.
Fr Jean-Noel
On Tuesday this week, Fr Jean-Noel presented to the whole staff a session on the life of St Emilie de Vialar. The vibrance and passion of the way Father spoke about St Emilie and her charism made us all feel like we were walking beside her in her life.
Welcoming & Commissioning Mass
On Tuesday Mrs Tonkin, Mrs Harvey and myself attended the annual Welcoming and Commissioning Mass at St Mary's Cathedral. Close to 1200 staff from Catholic schools from the Archdiocese of Perth were in attendance. It was a beautiful mass, and wonderful to begin our year in prayer and celebrating the Eucharist, with our Catholic Education Colleagues.
Sacramental Commitment Masses
Enrolment forms for children receiving a Sacrament will be available from the Church foyer from this weekend, the 4th and 5th of February. The completed forms are to be brought to the Sacramental Commitment Masses on the weekends of the 11th/12th of February and the 18th/19th of February.
Swimming Training
Students in Years 4-6 are invited to attend swimming training at Riverton Leisureplex.
Dates: Tuesday 7th and 14th February
Time: 7:15am - 8:00am
Entry Fee: Free for students (covered by St. Emilie's) spectator fees may apply.
Transport: Students will need to make their own way to and from the venue
Training is not compulsory and attendance will have no influence on Inter-School team selection. It is very important the children expressing interest are proficient swimmers (ie can swim at least 50m nonstop), as we will not be teaching swimming, but we will be building on their fitness and technique. If your child is interested in attending, please contact Mr Davis: paul.davis@cewa.edu.au
Family Picnic
Please mark in your calendars the Family Picnic on Friday 17th February from 5pm to 7.30pm.
Details about the evening, will be in next week's reminders.
Carpark Procedures--Reminder
An important reminder that student safety is of the utmost importance here at St Emilie’s. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the carpark and drive-through procedures. Additionally, we highly recommend that you share this information with grandparents/relatives/friends that may collect your child/ren.
St Emilie’s has established a drive-through system to facilitate a safe and efficient means of delivering and collecting children by car without the need to park. A one-way system around the school block has been designed for both morning drop-off and afternoon pickup, to ensure traffic movement is predictable, safe and efficient. All cars must enter via the Amherst Road roundabout entrance.
Please click here to view the procedure and map. With the change in finishing times for our Pre-Primary students, we anticipate we may need to review this procedure in the weeks to come. Please ensure anyone who is picking up your child/ren at drive-through has a name tag displayed. Contact the office if you need additional name tags. There is also some information below from the City of Gosnells about safer school parking. Please read this information as well.
We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
Regards
Stuart Munro

Year 6 Science
This week, the Year 6G students learnt about the different layers of the Earth. They investigated how the tectonic plates move on the Earth’s crust. Shaving cream was used to represent the mantle and a salada biscuit acted as the tectonic plates that form the Earth’s crust.

P & F Volunteers
The P&F received an overwhelming response from families expressing their interest to help with school events. It certainly highlights the incredible community spirit we are blessed to have here at St. Emilie’s. A very heartfelt thank you. With any event, there are limited spaces for helpers. Please know though, that we appreciate your willingness and interest to help, the gift of your time, your support and contributions.
Volunteers are a valued part of the heart of our school community. Thank you once again for your expressions of interest.
P & F Fundraising
What are we fundraising for?
This year we are busily saving for the new Year 3-6 playground equipment.
In addition, P&F funds this year will be used to offset some of the cost of:
- Mathletics

- Literacy Pro
- Sport Equipment
- Digital Tech Resources
- Library books
