Lander Elementary Friday Newsletter
January 16, 2025
Lander Families,
It has been a cold and snowy week, but our students have handled a week of indoor recess very well! It is hard to believe that today is the last day of the second quarter, and the third quarter starts next week. Our staff is working hard to continue developing and implementing personalized instruction for our students.
Our yearbook cover contest has been advertised and we are accepting entries until Monday, February 3rd. Information about the contest went out in the SMORE last week. and additional information and details are included in the newsletter below. Please note this contest is open to all students grades K-5.
Please continue to monitor the different events our PTG provides for our school community. The newsletter below contains a lot of information regarding activities and opportunities for our students and families. Please consider signing up to volunteer for our Valentine's Day Parties on February 14. The link to sign up is provided below.
Our Pride Paw shopping day is on the calendar. Students will be able to enjoy an opportunity to get rewarded for following the 4 P’s which helps to make Lander such a special place. Students will shop on January, 29th. We will continue reinforcing the expectations throughout our school community, and once again revisit classrooms to review the importance of following the 4 P’s with our students. Thank you in advance for reiterating this message at home as a family.
Just as a reminder, please make sure students are coming to school prepared with hats, gloves, boots, and winter jackets. We monitor the weather and temperature daily and try to get students out to recess as often as possible. Please contact the main office, or Mrs. Schmidt (School Counselor), if you need help with winter accessories for your child/children.
We will continue to support and assist you in any way we can. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, school counselor, our office team, or the administrative team with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to collaborating with you to ensure your child has a successful year.
Take Care,
Steff

Drop-Off Procedures: Safety Concerns
As we start to approach the winter months, we ask that everyone reads/reviews the drop-off procedures at Lander Elementary. We ask for everyone's participation in following the expectations to ensure safety for all of our students and staff.
1. If you choose to park and walk your child to the door, you must park in the Temple parking lot and walk your child across the crosswalk to the main door. (We have too many families parking and walking through the drop-off line which raises many safety concerns)
2. Marnell Avenue, and the back path, is an access point for students who are walking to school.
3. We need to unload as many students as possible in the drop-off line, when you turn the corner and are lined up behind the school please encourage your child to start to unload. We will do our best to have staff open the car doors, but we need your help/participation unloading as efficient as possible.
4. Even when there is snow or rain, we need children to unload when they are in the drop-off zone; please do not wait to pull your child up to the door for curb side service.
5. There is a crossing guard on site at Lander and Ascot that assists in walking students across Lander to enter at Door #5.
