Pest Resistance
Farmers will avoid unnecessary crop loss and generate more revenue in the produce markets. The pest resistance will keep weeds from depleting vital nutrients from the plants and avoid the costs of having to spray weed and pest killers, or they may only have to apply a single application.
Reduction in Land Degradation
Farmers will leave dead plants where they lie rather than plowing them into the ground and this will reduce soil erosion by 70%. Other technologies will reduce losses from sudden frosts and cope with disease.
Improved Harvests
GM crops of corn, cotton, and soybeans have yielded 5 to 8% more crops in the US and it is expected that some upcoming technologies can triple crop productions without the addition of new farmland.
